These bells weight a lot and one produces the sound that's as loud as a chainsaw. Imagine wearing one around your neck for days on end, this is animal abuse

Poor cows. Their necks must be so heavy with those massive bells on. Hope to return to Switzerland very soon. It is beautiful to hear the cowbells in the Alps. I really loved this town. Switzerland is easily one of the most beautiful countries on earth.

Nice to see the disciplined cows. The cows, perhaps, must be trained so that they dont 'DROP' anything in the streets, thus keeping the streets sparkling clean.

Beautiful ceremony, but with a practical purpose: this is september, and the summer pastures high in the mountains will get snow pretty soon. So the cows have to come down into the valley, and bring with them the cheese, made from their milk, in the past summer months.

The cow owner is probably keeping a very old tradition alive. Good for him and it makes me happy to see it, if only in video. To have watched it In person would be a whole new level of happy. Did you get a good look at the size of some of those bells, pretty cool. Probably used just once a year. I don't like it when tradition die out, like small family 4th of July picnics in the park. :(

Twice a year: in spring the cows go to the summer pastures high in the mountains, to graze there - their milk is made into cheese on site - and in fall (snow will be coming soon, high in the mountains) they descend into the valleys. So this ceremonial walk will last, as walking is the only feasible way to move the cows.
My 2-year daughter can't get enough of this video. We watch it twice a day.

The cheese will come from the cows and the goats. I bet they sell that all over the world.
