This building is called CASA REAL DE ILOILO, meaning ROYAL HOUSE, or the MALACAÑANG PALACE of the SOUTH, because when the Spanish surrendered Manila and the Philippines to the Americans in 1896, the last Spanish Governor General, Diego de los Rios, fled to ILOILO with his family and Malacañang Palace entourage and proceeded to this building where he continued to rule ILOILO as the last possession of Spain in the Philippines. This is the reason why it is called CASA REAL DE ILOILO, because it became the symbolic extension of the MALACAÑANG PALACE . Except for the tower at center, this building has a remarkable resemblance to the MUSEO del CABILDO De Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Balabago is a barangay of JARO DISTRICT in ILOILO City.

Pavia is not part of ILOILO CITY. It is Pavia, Iloilo. Not Pavia, Iloilo City
