Question: i received an email when this project was kickstarted. I saw their videos and in one i see a guy pick up the machine with one hand very easily. Then I read it weighs 11 pounds. Do you think this is because it has cheap parts? I have an older Miller 211MVP that weighs 75 pounds. I do realize new miller welder are much smaller and weigh less but they do weigh more than these compact welder. Whats your take?

@BuiltForDirt13 күн бұрын
I haven’t tried putting propane tanks up there but there are plenty of tie down points on the rack to secure them for sure.
@andresherrera264813 күн бұрын
@@BuiltForDirt Thanks! These look like a great solution to my problem, want to remove the tank off the tongue of the trailer and also carry a second and need somewhere to travel with them safely. They’re Under 100lbs combined and I like that the weight of the basket is only 14lbs. Reducing the stress on the swing gate and hinges. The other baskets are around 50lbs.

Best money spent is a PSC hydro assist with the big bore box and pump. Along with fresh tie rod ends ball joints and bushings.

Highly likely that I’ll end up doing that. I currently have the Apex steering cooler and boosted the stock system and that’s worked surprisingly well but might be at its limits now.

Running 40s on my 2018 JLUR both axles trussed, C gussets and RCVs. For extra clearance I would suggest removing the bottom piece of your fenders they are two pieced fenders. This will remove its structural support . You can get the American Adventure lab fender support kit and some aftermarket DRLs. Removing the bottom half adds around 3 inches of clearance.
@BuiltForDirtАй бұрын
@@ghernandez6457 Yeah I talk about the fender chop in this video. I have one ordered should be here tomorrow. How have things held up? What kind of wheeling do you do?
@ghernandez6457Ай бұрын
@BuiltForDirt Sorry didn't watch the whole video till now. I had 38s Patagonias MT02 and they run so good that I decided to go with 40s non beadlocked. On 4.88s 38s were perfect constantly saw 8th gear sometimes before 55mph. On 40s you pretty much lose a gear it likes to stay in 7th but 8th will pop up here and there. Personally I am gonna stick with 4.88s as the pinion on a D44 with 5.13 and 5.38s is too small. But for an overlanding rig I would go for 5.13s, save 5.38s for 1tons. I mostly do rock crawling, rocky trails here in AZ. On my "minivan" v6 non etorque I can get to 90mph easy still enough response to pass vehicles. I can't ask for more very impressed with the JLs. Regearing and a steering boost kit are a game changer though.

Aesthetically, it's badass. Structurally, my concern is the steering. Are those 140ish lbs on each corner going to adversely affect the entire steering ecosystem? My guess is the 38s have already stressed the synergy stuff, and the 40s will only exacerbate worn components. I'm definitely going to be following along! Be my guinea pig!!

@BuiltForDirt 10-4. Life likes to throw curveball. I'd love to see what you do with the trailer. I picked one up the other day. The stock tires are HUGE they're roughly 40" and event with the lift on my truck and the 33" tires it makes my Tundra look like a stock 90s something Tacoma.
