I have been wearing the Charge for a couple weeks. It is lighter and better-vented that I was expecting. Now, if somebody could just tell me how the hell to get the magnetic light clip on the back to detach I would be even happier. Anybody?

Great to see @PaulPabst in this series. Good take on the beer, but seemed to talk a little fast in the beginning. You settled down toward the end and made it very interesting. This is going to be a cool show...maybe have a guest taster or two. Well done Paul!

I have the same pack in the men’s version and still use it today. I know there are many newer, more modern and lighter packs but I just love this one. I have the packing system down to a science with it and so many great memories with it. Fly rods fit perfectly in side water bottle holders, I use a water bladder in the top pocket. It’s covered so many miles…the AT, the PCT, etc, CA, OR, WA, CO, WY, MT, the list goes on….so many high lakes and rivers….Cascades, Willowas, Siskiyous, Rockies, Appalachians….

That's very cool! Considering getting the 3-season version but this one just seems all the more brutal. Is there such a thing as an insulated pad with a high R-value such as this one that would sleep too warm for summer temperatures or is that not a risk?
@quetzalli23

I really haven’t heard of anyone sleeping too hot with this pad. Which I also find very surprising.

I love my Hoka shoes, but I don't think they should call those mids "boots". They're just a high tops sneaker without any real ankle support or protection. I sincerely wish Hoka would design a real rugged backpacking boot.

Agree, they're not quite boots. Most certainly more of a hybrid 'mid'. Thanks for watching!

I remember the good ol’ days when camping was had by what you had and hand-me-downs. A tent, sleeping bag, fishing pole, toilet paper, a shovel, a spoon, a knife and a lighter. Oh, and a bucket and beer! That’s all!

My wife and I moved to the US (green card lottery) and hated living here since then. The entire US looks the same, with the same single family zoning, parking mandates, highways through the cities, etc. We were thinking to just move out of here, hoping someday to get to the Netherlands. But after your video we’ll give Minneapolis a try. Eventually not all US is the same car hell. Thanks 🙏

They really need to use more robust fabrics. Everyone I know who's had a tensor has got pinhole leaks around where the baffles laminate which can't be fixed. There are so many issues with them. Read up some reviews on the forums. Shame, super comfy

I really appreciate these types of product educational videos. Lots of times, I am not looking for the best product, but the best product for my specific needs/requirements. Most of the time, I am not able to touch and feel these products in a store or able to talk to a knowledgeable salesman/clerk. So I hate having to purchase an item or two and then have to go through the process of returning them. I know women who will buy a bunch of clothes online, try them on and return the ones that are too big or just did not like after seeing the items in up close and in person. I also like how Apple provides a comparison matrix to help with comparing the differences between products.

I agree. Best review. And yes, not having instructional classes is a missed opportunity, especially for vendors trying to attract interest and get a sale. My wife and I only attended one day, and they would've been one of the things that we'd have stayed. Because we're beginners, we collected info, talked to peeps and got ideas on gear etc., but you know how it is . . . the material has now been sitting on the couch since leaving Flagstaff and we might not remember what we were thinking about nor even look at the stuff again. More stickers available might have helped. There's at least a chance of following up if we had those to stick on our rig. Thanks for showing us the best rigs as well!

It's all about how you define things. For me it's about doing what you want and adventuring. Much of the latest and greatest at the show this year was quite expensive, however. PS: I lived and traveled in a vehicle for nearly 8 years, 6 of which I lived under the poverty line. I hit the road with no debt and like $2k in my bank account, so I wouldn't say rich. -Bryon Dorr
