i kinda wish the show had kept the more muted and soft color palette it had in the first season, i know it got brighter because it needed to appeal to children and sell toys yada yada yada but it was a lot nicer on the eyes and made the show feel a lot more cozy

Twilight Sparkel getting wings is the worst thing that happened to my little pony. MLP was at its best until S.3 Ep. 13

I am not sure if this counts as a controversial opinion, but not only are the legion of doom (Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow) my favorite MLP villains, but also my favorite characters in the entire series. I like how they stay as bad guys till the end and I would like them to return in the G5 IDW comics.

Thing about earth ponies in G5 is that earth ponies always had magic. Tirek literally stole there magic along with the other ponies. They have magic in there strength and their ability to tend to the land, also they have cutiemarks, cutiemarks aren't just magic cutiemarks connect to the magic you already have within you. So if earth ponies have cutiemarks that means they have magic. Bringing "earth pony magic" in G5 was the dumbest thing, especially since they sort just turned them into hornless unicorns with less variety.

I don't think it's so much that Unicorns can't cast many spells as it is that Twilight studied magic her whole life (and also because she has the magic of an Alicorn in a Unicorn body). If another Unicorn were to study magic the way Twilight did, they'd probably be on the high end of the spectrum in terms of power too.

I know this comment will get buried but... Countess Coluratura's singing voice is objectively... bad. She goes off-key during 'I am just a pony' many times. It's not always noticeable if your ears aren't trained to hear it. But it's definitely not good. It's not so bad during 'Spectacle' because it hasn't really got any high keys and is auto tuned.
