Also don’t go walking on trails at night, especially if youre a woman or unarmed. That applies to most cities but Dallas has some walkways inside the city where it can get pitch black and there are few things that will stop a drug addict from a couple bucks.

Native Texan, but moved away for good in 1998. There was a day in Austin, January that year that was 99 degrees. 82 in December is nothing. There are things about TX I miss, but I cannot tolerate how hot & humid it is there. Nothing like getting out of the shower and starting to sweat instantly, or walking out your front door, feeling like you're stepping into an oven. No thanks, I'll take my A/C free weather in Puget Sound any day over that misery.

It is disgusting that people try to divert blame away from the homeless people. THEY ARE THE PROBLEM. Homeless are the ones doing the drugs. Homeless are the ones stealing. They are not pawns.

Mostly all good advice, but although "Don't expect cell service" is great advice, "There is virtually no cell service anywhere in the park" hasn't been my experience. Some of the more popular areas have adequate service like the valley and glacier point. And the sentinel dome/taft point area actually has good service since that's where the tower is at. Granted I haven't been on like super busy summer weekends, so maybe the tower gets overwhelmed like a music festival or something. Some good advice is to download the offline maps on your google maps app so that you can have GPS navigation even when driving in areas that have no service. Also bring a portable battery pack to keep that phone topped up when you're out of the car and away from other charging sources.

Thanks for the vdeio, helpful advice indeed. As Scandinavian I know most of them (it's not very different here) but a few were new to me. 3:04 - Ketchup. My Swedish family's experience on their journey across USA was the Americans putting ketchup on everything. Yet at a cafeteria they were surprised to see a teenager with a big bowl of strawberries soaking them with a ton of ketchup. Something tells me that's not normal.
