That combination is still my carry around in 2024. Good enough for the job but cheap enough that if I drop/ damage/ lose It, I won't be too upset. Effective 50mm (roughly) and excellent image quality mid-aperture. I just have this thing in a bag, with me all the time. The D60/35mm F/1.8 is a great combination.

I quite liked your out and about video! I guess your lens indeed has a small problem. I have that lens too and it has impressed for the quality it produces as a kit lens. A lens I would recommend for this camera is the 40-150mm f3.5-4.5. It is quite heavy and it has its flaws (long minimal focusing distance) but it produces very nice image quality and its pretty sharp. It is still relatively well available for reasonable prices.

@pictureworldphotography
@pictureworldphotography 13 күн бұрын
I see by way of Google search you're talking about the 28-80mm Tokina of which there are at least 2 versions, an F2.8 version and an F3.3-5.6 basic version, both of which I've never heard of and wouldn't know what price these would sell for if you can even find one for sale. Sorry I couldn't be of any help to you.

@pictureworldphotography 15 күн бұрын
Thanks, the A6700 is a great little camera. I was quite surprised how well it performed and of course the sensor is much newer that the A74's sensor as well as the processor, if all I wanted was a small APSC camera for all my work then this would be the camera that I would get along with the small Sony primes they released recently, would be a great small light kit. Cheers.

TLDR: Weight and balance are relative and I find the P1000 pleasantly light and compact with the reach I need. Compared to the D4 with a 70/200, plus the camera bag with flash and two other lenses I used at work years ago, including a 600mm lens sometimes, my P1000 is pleasantly light and balanced with the lens in. Just like the Nikon 70/200, when the lens is fully zoomed, I just support the lens with my left hand-no big deal. The P1000 is a lot easier to bring up one-handed to view/shoot than the D4-70/200. I live in West Texas which is full of all kinds of interesting (to me) post-apocalyptic derelict structures and expansive views that are often easily distorted by the hot air and dust, so sharpness can be elusive over distance. Some of my favorite kinds of shots are long distance-up to about 10 miles, in some cases, since tall structures can be seen for tens of miles. The land is all privately owned. In order to take pictures of many of the interesting features, I need reach from the public dirt or pavement roads. The P1000 gives me the best reach for the money and ease of use. Due to the mandatory standoff distances, it’s doubtful a full pro kit would help enough, given the atmospheric conditions, to be worth the money and hassle. In the right light and at relatively shorter distances, the P1000 is capable of very good images; good enough for me as a hobbyist. The only real downside of it for me is that it’s not weather sealed. So far, this and my iPhone 15 Pro take care of what I need to do. An image’s sharpness or color or detail is not always a necessary requirement for me to tell the story. To me, photos are along the spectrum of drawings and paintings, neither of which I have patience for anymore. If I cared about editing, I’d have Photoshop and would probably just turn many into digital paintings or drawings anyway.

I bought mine through a seller on eBay. I bought 3 x100s. 2 bateries were ok and one 1 dead on arrival. The seller told me to go through Zhiyun. Zhiyun told me to go through the seller. In the end I had to go through eBay to get a refund for one light. I think they work well when they work but it's way over priced for what they are.

@pictureworldphotography
@pictureworldphotography 27 күн бұрын
It certainly is a cheaper option as there are tons of lenses available for the EF system on the 2nd hand market as opposed to buying a newer mirrorless system. It will take perfectly acceptable photos with a good quality lens on it, I'm not that familiar with the Canon system as this was loaned to me for this review, my advice is spend more on a decent lens as this will improve the image quality more than a higher end camera. Hope this helps. Cheers.

I just bought an olympus E420 with the 14-42, the 40-150 and 35/3.5 macro for less than 50 euros. It is so small for a dslr, does not have image stabilisation though. The colors out of this camera are absolutely beautiful!

I think it's funny that you went on so much about the on-off switch, which is something that would never have crossed my mind to care about in any way… but then you had nothing to say about the fantastic high-resolution EVF, which to me is a major selling point of the S1 and S1R. My S1R (with a Sigma 24mm F2, the only native lens I have for it right now) produces the best image quality that I've seen out of any camera. It nails focus, it nails exposure, the colors are perfect, image detail is startling. My gripe is the same one you noted: It's a behemoth. Even though it has a "small format" sensor, it really is meant to fill the role of a medium format camera. I'm just trying to decide if it's too much camera for me. Also, I really like the multi aspect ratio support, including 2:1 and 65:24 that you don't see on many cameras. I can use it like a digital XPan.
@pictureworldphotography
@pictureworldphotography Ай бұрын
You're right about the EVF, it is fantastic and it is something I forgot to mention. After having used it for a short time I'm now thinking that I should have purchased it, but Panasonic may release an updated version in the near future, fingers crossed. Cheers.

I love the D800e. I use it all the time. Plenty of resolution, easy to use, and takes all that sweet Nikon F glass. I have the DC lenses, I have the 180mm D (four copies of it!), the 300mm, and other "can't live without them" lenses. I have ancient Nikon AI glass up to modern G lenses. In fact, I see literally no reason to go mirrorless. No, I don't need one zillion frames per second. No, I don't have any problems focusing. I don't need zebras unless I am going to the zoo. I have bought mirrorless cameras, but I just gave them away. My other favorite camera is my Canon 5Ds. Another DSLR. I also shoot film so using a DSLR means sharing glass and never having to say you're sorry.
