Wondering how a man who does not know the exact father but rather a family group of brothers where his father sits can use this to determine which brother is his father? If they all inherit y dna that is identical it’s not going to help determine which one is his father. What other techniques would be recommended?

In Austria we did the exact same thing with Roma people. We made a database of all people of Roma descent. After that when the Nazis came to power we used that data to put them in concentration camps. You might want to be careful with that kind of information.

I was hoping there was a magic wand, or at least a flag to prevent more people from merging to a person who is already in multiple countries with a dozen spouses at the same time in the 1800's. Merging is so much easier than unmerging errors it seems.

I have been seeing records on several different websites that have probably been transcribed by AI , and I have lost count of the huge number of times that I’ve had to log corrections due to the huge amount of errors. These arise from several problems: handwriting, similar local family names, lack of geographical knowledge, illiteracy to name just a few. Although this is, superficially good, many many mistakes are already happening and this will add to the problem. Although it’s lovely that more people are able to access information, there is no substitute for knowledge, education and expertise. I’m in Hampshire, England and always willing to help 😊.

And still no real chromosome browser. How are you not embarrassed to tout all these trivial features and new ways to charge people increased fees, while Ancestry refuses to give us what we really need: a true chromosome comparison tool? We’ve been clamoring for one for years. Shame on them, and shame on you.
