I'll try to get some more video if the smoke clears. I can't get any closer right now since I'm on call and the backroads in the area are shut down. They're getting it under control, but haven't declared it contained at this point. It's smouldering away generating a ton of smoke now. 7 Helicopters and 20 pieces of heavy equipment working on it along with 70? ground crew firefighters

Do you think that a Yamaha Nytro engine would run inverted in an aerobatic biplane with that dry sump system? Is the oil scavenged with a gear pump back to the separate oil canoster OR is the oil scavemged by pressure?
@Pneumamechanical
@Pneumamechanical 4 ай бұрын
I bet it would work, but I can't say for sure. I've thought of using one of these or an Apex engine with a turbo in a home built myself. This one has a rear mount turbo, so it's got a scavenging pump for the turbo and the engine is dry sump, with it's own scavenging pump for the crank case, let me know if you do it

It was turning over but wouldn't start, I got it running with new plugs, but still intermittent no start, had a fuel issue that never really got resolved, new fuel pump, relay etc didn't fix it. I'll bet that old the truck with the appliances in the back will run again. I worked a Western Star Water Truck last year on the local forest fires. I'm thinking that I oughta buy my own truck with the way things are going now. The new prevailing opinion it seems now is to let them burn if they don't need to put them out. That would leave us to pick up the slack.
@Pneumamechanical
@Pneumamechanical 9 ай бұрын
Yes the old dump truck was drove to where it's sitting and parked when I was a teenager, it would probably still fire up, unfortunately the brakes would need to be gone through and it's got a gas engine so would be really expensive to run. I hear rumours of unofficial fire departments being organized in the rural areas to try to save homes. I think this type of vigilante type action will start to become more common with the shortfall from government

@@kazantipa it depends on riding habits. In the mountain sleds, getting run hard and likely not maintained well, 6500K is probably time to rebuild. However I have seen trail sleds go 10K without a rebuild. The 600 will have a longer life as well. The key is to keep the crank greased, proper warm up and running good oil/fuel

I have always wondered why the mining company just lets machines like you described, sit and get vandalized or deteriorate. Why not sell them and realize some monetary gain. I suppose it has to do with tax structure and depreciation, but I have seen this same situation in other mines. Even if those mining excavators were old, they were still expensive.
@Pneumamechanical
@Pneumamechanical Жыл бұрын
I've wondered the same thing. I think it's for different reasons on different claims. This company is still in business and is likely just storing this stuff there. In many cases, if the engineer does a good job, the equipment should have done it's job and be paid for long before the life cycle of the mine is finished, in that case, take what may be needed on the next claim, auction, and abandon the stuff that's not worth taking. They had a few other scoops there that are now gone, so the company must have taken them. They had several other pieces of equipment there when the mine was active that were taken when it shut down. They have another barite claim on a close by mountain, but I have no idea if they'll mine it. If they did, I'd imagine some of the equipment left at jubilee would/could be taken to the Pedly claim
