The support rod holder on my base for the defiant snapped to but not completely off like yours did. Awesome video and that tie fighter looks amazing! I need to give that mottling effect a try. One thing though, every time that music comes on I want to head over to the bar and order a drink. 😏

You could have just left the clear cockpit parts off and kept it accurate to the original filming models which did not have them to avoid reflection from the studio lights.

@@decadentdave I do realize that they didn’t have the glass, however I did want to show it for anyone who was interested in buying/building the kit how the kit turns out. For me personally I prefer the windows being in, as this will be sitting on a shelf collecting dust for years, that will help prevent dust from getting inside. Thanks for watching my videos.

Well that doesn't look that dark after all now that it's all together. But I think I'll still go with a little XF-2. That base is awesome and gave me a few ideas. I enjoyed your build. Hope to see more Star Wars!

The rear window thingy always cracked me up. First of all there’s no window on the back of the fuselage and if it is a display screen it’s pointless to put it behind the pilot he should have an aft viewscreen near his yoke.

That looks pretty dark to me. The general consensus at the RPF is to mix 1:1 XF-82 and XF-2 (Flat White) or use TS-32 (Haze Grey) in a rattle can. I have this kit, the old MPC TIE Adv, and the rereleased AMT TIE Fighter and TIE Interceptor on the bench right now (might as well do them at the same time). I'm nowhere close to paint - the TIE Adv needs a LOT of custom work. It'll be interesting to see how this comes out and hopefully it can inform my paint choices. I went ahead and bought multiple cans of TS-32 and a few jars of XF-82 & XF-2, I still have several Fine Molds and Bandai TIEs in the stash. Subbed! Don't mind me. If it looks good to you, that's what's important. Round 2 did a pretty good job with this kit. Let's hope they come out with the 1/72 TIE Bomber they've been teasing! That's the only TIE that never got a major production run.

06:37: CITV - Commander's Independent Thermal Viewer -- It gives the Crew Commander the ability to scan for and designate new targets, while the Gunner is dealing with the current one. This provides a "hunter Killer" capability. 07:10: Yes stowage for refills for the Multi Barreled Smoke Grande Dischargers. A lot safer than storing a bunch of phosphorous grenades inside the turret.

Yes, the rectangular one is the Gunner's Primary Sight mount, usually referred to as the "Doghouse". If the doors are shut, the Gunner can't use the sight, but it protects it from shell fragments, etc.

Hi Ken, "Mantlet" is the usual term. The "lumpy" part is the "Bore Evacuator" / "Fume Extractor". The thing on the muzzle is the "Muzzle Reference Sensor". A minor quibble, the coax MG should be aligned with the barrel, yours is converging.

It might be beneficial to give some brush sizes (e.g. the live stream yesterday where there seemed to be a host of numbers involved "00" "010", etc. given no one seems to use a common standard: 0.5mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, etc.)? Also the close work didn't focus too well.
