Just need to learn the basics of trekking etc..... I need to get alone with God and nature and rediscover myself and who I really am..... God bless you in your future adventures trekking..... Going to miss seeing and hearing you now..... 😢😢😢 Loved every minute of it..... Take care. Jason from Perth

To be honest, it's awful. We did it to show the whole track, but many people skip it and start at Wee Jasper or Fitzpatrick Trailhead. The walk to Tumut is nice, and then it's mainly bush tracks and fire trail until a day out from Albury where it's road again.

Until I became a long distance hiker I never thought I would be able to watch one video, never mind a series on the subject. I have watched plenty in my time now and I rate this series the best I have seen. Everyone involved clearly put a lot of effort into the series and it shows. The drama, tedium, elation, lows and highs, were all captured in a most natural way that articulate clearly what a long distance hike is really like. Special shout out to the cinematography, the editing, and my favourite, the music, which must have been selected with great care. I just loved everything about this series and just want to say thanks for giving me so much joy in my downtime as I prepare for the next big hike.

Hi Caroline, great to see you on another Oz hike! I haven't watched the rest of this trail's vids to see what you thought of this trail yet, but I have to say The Hume and Hovell is my LEAST favorite backpacking trail in Australia. Wait, strike that. I REALLY hated this trail! It started nice enough, but then it just became a series of dreary, pointless, boring road walks. For reference, and just in case someone reading this comment is looking for some hiking ideas for Australia, here is the Australian trails part of my CV, from favorite to a bit less favorite. Bibbulmun, Larapinta, The Great North Walk, The Great South West Walk, Six Foot Track, Cape to Cape. The H&H Walk is all alone on my "Don't waste your time on this trail list".
@GreatWalksoftheWorld
@GreatWalksoftheWorld Жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for sharing. I will be honest - H&H was not my favourite trail either. But, it really toughened me up - it was my first ever proper long distance hike. I gained so much physical and mental strength and resilience. H&H got me fully prepared for the successful completion of the Bibbulmun Track (and the unexpected emergency there too!)

Caroline might have been wiped out by this day but it looks like it picked up in scenic quality at least. Some of those earlier days with the bleak logging and road walking did not make the Hume and Hovell look like a very interesting walk at all (had a bit of a laugh at how dispiriting it must've been to arrive at that shelter destroyed by fallen trees), but this shows a lot more promise. Looking forward to seeing weeks 2 and 3 when they are out!

@@GreatWalksoftheWorld I hear you, and totally understandable. Yes, walk the track. It's amazing and anyone can do it. We posted to our pre-booked accommodation, and contacted them as a courtesy. You can also send to some visitors centres. How much to send depends on what type of food you eat and how much you plan to buy in town (some towns have more than others, while some have nothing), and how many days each section will take. It does take a fair bit of planning to be prepared. Others just wing it. Best advice is to contact the Bibbulmun track foundation for their advice, or jump on the facebook pages.

@GreatWalksoftheWorld
@GreatWalksoftheWorld Жыл бұрын
That osprey pack is deceptive. It looks big and heavy but the total weight wasn't that much, depending on the section and food needs. It tends to look bloated because of its shape. We did carry some extra film gear though.
