Why are you people so obsessed with age and how they looked? We weren't overweight like your generation is.

Robert Klein, did you attend a Lynchburg, VA art show with a New York female (art) judge in 1983?

Roberta started all the nasty negativity; he gave her back even better than she dished out :) She struck me as the "entitled" and self-centered one. Any DECENT woman would NOT "expect" a rose on a first date -- let alone a bouquet of them or any flower(s) -- and she would definitely appreciate even a "single" rose as the considerate gesture it was (from someone who was, after all, still a total stranger). Moreover, a woman with true CLASS would NEVER disparage even a "single" rose -- bad enough to do so 1-on-1 to the giver privately, but totally outrageous to do so publicly on TV to ridicule the giver -- even "IF" it had indeed been purchased at a 7-11. She's probably still single -- even thoigh she dates men still married and only separated.

No performer was ever 100 hot always all the time. Everybody has good days and bad ones. But now maybe you can understand the pressure these guys are constantly under. Its seriously not easy work. Show business is very hard work. If youve ever tried it than youll know. But its worth it on those days when you shine!

As amazing as this episode is, I think Johnny singing pushes it to all time greatest hour of television territory. John was not known for singing, or sentimentality. For him to give that up in the spirit of what his final show represented that night was special indeed.

I never got to experience the 80s which is probably why i look at all these men as class acts. It's hard to compare by today's standards though.

The first few guys material was too American for me to understand, so the first comedian to amuse me was the very unfunny looking Martin Mull! Coming from the UK, the only comedians I recognised were Billy Crystal and Robin Williams.

Was Richard Lewis taking off Woody Allen? He has all the same gestures, especially the constant touching of the forehead. I’m afraid I didn’t understand anything he said so didn’t find it funny at all.

Given that this was the 1980's, background checks on guests for game/ talk shows were not done. It's quite possible that he was lying on the application just so he could be a guest on the show.

The first woman was so horrible to that guy. How do you do that to someone publicly? Though he certainly fought back. Maybe too hard, I don't know, but I can't say I blame him. Really she was so brutal. She doesn't even seem to pick up on how disapproving the audience was of her behavior, she just digs herself deeper and deeper.
