Hey! Thanks for watching! I mean... I can kind of see their point especially due to the soda ash issues. It can be a temporary or quick option for events but I enjoyed the process.

Do these oils wash away fairly easy with water? Wanna try them in my housewashing soap mix. Wonder if they would stain vinyl siding?

Why are you still using lye if you are using the African black soap?
@NataciasSudznScents
@NataciasSudznScents 26 күн бұрын
Because the African Black soap is an additive in the cold process soap. I am using African Black Soap as an additive like aloe vera or pumpkin powder. I don't need lye to saponify the African Black Soap but it is needed for the cold process soap that I am adding to it....the other oils and butters added to the recipe.

What is the powder you poured into the water with the silk? And what type of oil is that?
@NataciasSudznScents
@NataciasSudznScents Ай бұрын
The powder is lye. Based on my formula of water and lye I used the lye to help melt the silk. The oil is different oils (avocado oil, olive oil, coconut oil, coco butter, castor oil and shea butter). I have listed the recipe in some of my recent videos. Thanks for watching.

I love it I noticed you lowering your mold quickly but I don’t know if that was the at the correct speed I just know that a couple of other KZfaqrs have encouraged me to do it slowly and the pattern is smoother so I wanted to pass that idea onto you if you haven’t heard or tried it before. You did great! Kind of nervous making the big bars. I have little molds so inspiring! Btw where did you get your mold?
@NataciasSudznScents
@NataciasSudznScents Ай бұрын
Thanks so much ☺! I got the clear mold from Michael's Craft Store. The cost of the molds went up since I purchased mine. I like them because I like my bars to be wider and taller than normal soap bars and this mold gives me the ability to get that size. You definitely need to use sodium lactate in your recipe so the soap is hard enough to release from the mold; especially since there isn't any silicone surrounding the soap. Once you calculate your formula to fit the ounces in the mold you should be good. Trust me you are going to be so excited once you do your first larger soap loaf mold!

@NataciasSudznScents
@NataciasSudznScents 2 ай бұрын
Hey! I have silicone also! They work! The hearts moulds are silicone and I use to have the silicone/wooden soap loaf moulds but the soaps were a but small/narrow for my taste. I wanted a bigger/wider soap; especially considering I was beveling the sides. Thanks for the compliments! You have to do what makes you excited about being creative. I learned this about 2 years into soap making. Then you will have a style that is uniquely yours. I am still trying to discover my style to be honest...lol! Hey…thanks so much! There isn’t any particular reason I chose the 4 th day. I was concerned about my recipe being too soft so I wanted to give it time and I just chose that day. Hi. Beautiful rebatch! It is just straight oil, no lye that youre mixing it with? I had a huge soap mistake and don't want to waste these good ingredients.
@NataciasSudznScents
@NataciasSudznScents 2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! I blend the scraps in oil since its already saponified ( as opposed to the soap batter with lye) and it will blend better and finer (in my opinion). I don't add more than 10% soap scraps per oil oz. For 10 oz of oil for example I wouldn't use more than 1 oz of soap scraps.The lye measurement is based only on the oil in the container that isn't saponified. You can test measure your scraps to see if adding more may work, however, I would limit the amount of scraps to no more than 15% unless you test it and it works for you. Hopefully I didn't confuse you!

@@NataciasSudznScents Thank you. Yep, makes sense. I planned to make a beautiful marbled looking soap with 7 colors. I had all my soap batter in a big bowl of white and 6 cups of batter with a spoon of color on top. I went to mix the first color and when I was done, all of seems to be rock hard. Upset, I left it for a couple days. When I went to shred it, I found that half of it was hard and under it was softer but it still shredded. The colors are mixed, but very crudely. I'm just trying to be prepared before I dive in to rebatching it.
