Interestingly, if you are a spearfisherman there are ZERO license free fishing zones. Yet spearfisherman pay the same amount for licenses. I’ve even asked fish and game about this… they don’t care. I guess rod fisherman just get more priveledges for whatever reason.

Keep in mind that the part of Shelter Island you show here is NOT a fishing area, the free pier is right up island from there a couple hundred yards... The mission bay jetty (Jetty Rd), always, and I mean ALWAYS holds fish, though sometimes conditions won't allow fishing (danger!).

You skipped Arrowhead. Although it is surrounded by private property and not open to the public it is a nice place. If you know the right electric gate to approach you will find an empty aluminum can hidden in the brush on the passenger side. Rub the can on the road (just do it) just before the gate. The gate opens, you return the can, you drive in. Park and approach the lake, this is where it gets tricky……the docks may not be near the homes and homes not near other homes but the docks are side by side. They know who’s dock you’re on. When you see someone jump in the lake and wait to see them go to their dock. Swim to shore away from the home owners. Say you are someone’s guest. Say you never saw Cape Fear but don’t keep drinking. Cops are on the way. I lived in Crestline and left it better than when I got there. Nature is full send there and all along the rim. You can (could) ride your bicycle to San Bernardino, all down, all fast (you might pass cars), all fun all day and there’s a decision maker to change it up. In winter you will find children sledding in the streets late at night. Shimmy between two buildings and up on the roof then jump to the bowling alley roof and then jump to the tallest tree I ever climed. Or go behind the liquor store (all of them)and drink with locals in an alpine forest. See you at the A.

I intentionally left out Lake Arrowhead as mentioned in the video. Arrowhead is private and does not allow public access for everyone to enjoy. You have to know someone that lives there or you need to have property at or around the lake to gain full lake access. You need to have a permit so they know you are a member in order to fish or launch a boat. Shoreline access is very limited. It’s a very nice lake though.
