Hi, do you have GPS coordinates for the trails you did?
@Laval1
@Laval1 Ай бұрын
There are a few entrances to Julimar Forrest NP and the coordinates of the entrance where most challenging tracks are found is 31°29'40.3"S 116°14'54.0"E It's going to take me a bit of time to map out all the tracks and waypoints from our trip, but I'm definitely working on it! This time of year, the tracks are absolutely saturated with water and mud - a total playground for those who love a challenge! But be warned, it's easy to get stuck or even submerge your vehicle if you're not careful. Always proceed with caution when encountering waterlogged sections of the trail.

what gears did you on when climbing sand hills , 4L with 4th gear ?
@Laval1
@Laval1 2 ай бұрын
I always engage 4-low for dune climbs. Gear selection depends on the approach: Long Run-Up: I start in 4th gear to build momentum, then downshift to 2nd (usually) once I hit the steepest section. Short Run-Up: With a limited approach, I head straight into 2nd gear for maximum torque and control.

@@Laval1great info mate, I tried 4L with 3rd gear with very high revs and the engine sounds like it’s about to explode lol… can’t imagine with 2nd gear, gonna try it out next time

You've nailed it! That's exactly the kind of passion FJ owners have. They're just FUN. It's that classic look, the rugged capability, and that feeling of freedom they give you. It's more than a car, it's an adventure buddy. I completely understand wanting to just cruise around and enjoy the drive - it's a feeling that's hard to match! 🙌

@Laval1

Thanks for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed it. On that particular day, the sand were quite compact as it showered the morning before we arrived there and I was able to drive on 12 psi. When I was driving up the hills I was on 4L and 3rd gear. Be mindful this beach is treacherous and some days you must be prepared to go very low psi. This is the fourth time I went there and they were all different. Two times I was able to drive above the 10psi mark but the two other times I was sub 10psi. One time when arriving near the beach, there were already over a dozen vehicles on the beach all bogged. So I aired downed to 8 psi before entering the beach and I was only able to drive a few meters before I was bogged. I was only able to get out at 4 psi and was so anxious about my tyres getting off the rims but had no option. The easiest time to go there is when it had rained the night before and it's not windy and the worst is when it's windy and dry.

@@Laval1 thanks mate. Now I don't feel so bad! Drove there once in the mid 80's... no idea how to 4x4 then... promptly got bogged. Luckily some locals came past and got us out. But even now I've never been below 12 psi... sure looks soft and deep. Won't be heading there without another vehicle with me. Thanks again for the detailed response. Subbed too.. cheers 🍻
