You need a mercury vacuum gauge and a glass plug to set them up right if you have split and dismantled them. Honda advised not to split them and just clean .

I always try to keep them together unless you have to get in there, like if the link pipes are split between carbs etc

I bought and still have an HDI Diesel 2 litre and love it. At 163 BHP its too tame and definitely requires a re-map which results in 200 BHP. The difference is considerable. Also I had the break callipers properly painted. The wheels were in good condition but they will get shopped in two weeks for a powder chrome job. Always keep an eye on tyre pressures and oil level - I mean weekly. I also had the gear box oil changed at the time of purchase. If you look after them they go like a small train and are fantastic on the motorway - quiet with good fuel consumption. Its a fun practical car with great lines. They are a hard ride and do not tolerate potholes. You will be into new springs if you ignore this... pick the best line! What a great car -

Front brakes : upper bleed valve front left then upper bleed valve right side. Rear brakes: right side front caliper centre bleed valve then left side front centre bleed valve. Then go to rear caliper centre bleed valve. Lastly rear caliper outer rear bleed valve . That's the sequence from the workshop manual .

I had one back in the day. Terrible handling, worse brakes. It was pulled out of a mates of a mates shed, and was my first big bike. No licence, insurance, tax or MOT, I rode it for 6 months getting away with it until my stupidity and neglect killed it. I eventually got legal, and always fancied another but sadly it was never to be. Will be following this along as it'd sit nicely with my other two bikes.

100% it is horribly distracting. Not required. It is like some terrible 1980's theme tune for some dreadful B rated daytime soap, but it goes on and on and on and on, unlike the theme tune which is still awful at just 20 secs.

How did the std HYVO primary chain stand up to the abuse? Did you bend the crank as other CBX drag racers did? How many No1 cylinder rods did the motor throw?
@Andywiththespanners
@Andywiththespanners 11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comments, we ran a brand new chain for each season, never an issue, we never bent the crank but then we didn't try to lighten it like some others did so maybe that's something. We never had an issue with no1 rods or any of them, (the issue with number 1 rods was something standard bikes would encounter if left on the side stand and the fuel tap left on, because the no1 carb was so much lower that the no6 for example, fuel would flow down flooding the no1 cylinder and then bending the rod when you cranked the motor against the fuel which doesn't compress, later bikes had a vacuum valve to stop this) we broke the stock rods very early on and then went to the same set up as top fuel bikes and never had an issue, we broke a few clutches, broke a couple of gearboxes , I would say the gearbox was probably the limiting factor for us back then, we ran a 3 speed semi system in the end and that was brilliant until it let go when we got greedy with the boost pressure.

I have the same model bike ,same colour,been stood for 10yrs plus...it maybe worth taking a look beneath the points at the auto advance
@Andywiththespanners
@Andywiththespanners 11 ай бұрын
That's a very good call, looking at the corrosion around the points then it's very likely that the advancer is stuck too. For this video we just wanted to get it to run, whoever buys the bike has the knowledge now that there's nothing major wrong and can go through it properly. We only have a few hours to do this. Thanks and if you haven't already then please click the subscribe, if you have then many thanks.

@@Andywiththespanners The auto advance can be stuck open,which means the engine will not run below about 1400rpm,if you are breaking that bike ,I would be interested in the kick start lever and switch gear,if not then thats ok
