The Nongame Wildlife EagleCam nest collapsed last year, with a young eaglet in it; another tragedy :( I hope all that bad energy is now away! Time to build a new nest, Mom; have hope!

With eagles, not enough food? Seems a strange thing. I would be more inclined to think a sick or weak sibling.

The female can’t keep up with providing food and defending the nest from predators, the male disappeared and there is no protection

@karentheis3690 you guys always say this , when the siblings. Attack And a few days later the male eagle appears, so it must be that mom isn't protecting its younger chick , For many reasons

It is badly hurt. I don’t think it’s gonna make it. Mother nature could be so cruel. It took such a long time for the second egg to hatch. The size difference is so evident. Remember there was one eagle last season that raised three of them but she had lots of fish to feed them. When they were born, so close to each other.

So sad. The little one was born late. The Mom does nothing . Maybe there is not a lot of food available

Definitely encouraged by the parent. It's called sibling clutch reduction. When there isn't enough food, the parents will ignore the violence and intentionally feed the aggressor, allowing the aggressor to reduce the number of mouths to feed

The parents won't kill their own chicks, but when food is scarce they'll depend on the strongest to "clutch reduction" aka reducing the number of mouths to feed. The chick killed will provide food for the killer. Nature is brutal, and too many watching it are in denial, make excuses, or try to silence the reality.

I was watching this stream during lock down. It was a cold week that month and a snow storm was coming. The Other two survived but i do believe the other bullied one fell from its nest a year ago or so. There is a small coommunity watching this MN eagle nest.

it passed away. I remember going back to the stream and seeing it there for a bit. It snowed right after this too...i think they knew.

Look at that stupid mother after all they are just animal it's just humans especially the rich ones glorify them for no reason that big eaglet was trying to get to the flesh of that small eaglet so he can eat it.
