Any idea how the size of this thread compares to 2 or 4 lb Mono line? Thanks!

I found your channel this weekend. I've been fishing all my life but gotten into fly fishing & tying about 3 years ago. I've always wanted to write a book, and I decided to do it on my journey into fly fishing. Like you were talking about, it's something that I can leave behind to hopefully inspire and educate others. I'm not new to creating podcasts & KZfaq videos, but this is a new channel I created to share my knowledge & learn more. All the best to you. I've liked & subscribed.

Which platform do you recommend for selling stuff? I don't have anything to sell but someday I want my own brands of knives, saws, and hatchets.

That sounds awesome! It all depends on how simple or complex you want your website to be. I have had good success with Weebly but Shopify is also good along with WooCommerce. Pricing is very similar for all three.

I fish for carp all over Ohio or wherever I travel but primarily fish for them in NE Ohio. Any of the flies that you see on my channel or website would be good options. If you ever have any specific questions or would want to chat, send me an email and we can set something up. Once you get your first one, you will be hooked! I have more carp videos coming for sure!

@@theflyguytfgflies Thanks for the response man. It's funny to me, that most "traditional" fly anglers scoff at people that fly fish for carp. However, the same guys will make trips to Florida, or the Bahamas to bonefish. It's the same friggin' thing. I'll e-mail you after I finish watching this video. I wanna tie up some of these flies.

I have two spools of this line, in both clear and smoke. I transferred some onto an old empty spool and also to a sewing machine bobbin. I have found it at Walmart as well as all local craft stores. Another good product I found is metallic embroidery floss. It’s bulky right from the package but can be broken down into individual or groups of strands.
@theflyguytfgflies24 күн бұрын
Nice! You can always find great stuff for tying in craft stores and Wal-Mart. I like the metallic embroidery floss idea. I bet that would be great for trout and salmon flies!

What happens if you use super glue to hold your fly together and you accidentally smell it while using it. Will you be okay?
@theflyguytfgfliesАй бұрын
Super glue can react with nasal passages and your eyes. The fumes themselves can become adhesive when it reacts to moisture. Just do not lean directly over top a fly you are using super glue on.

Thanks for the great idea to use eye pads and zip ties to attach a replacement seat! Just did a similar thing with a Lifetime Kokanee tandem kayak (turning it into a single person kayak for my extra tall son-in-law.) Fingers crossed it holds up! What mattered most to me was the ability to remove the new kayak seat in the event other family members wish to turn it back into a tandem kayak with the original hard plastic back rests. The zip-ties make it easy to remove the new seat without removing the eye-pads.

I always add some very small split shot to the bottle which helps enormously when shaking the bottle to mix the nail varnish 👍

@@theflyguytfgflies I’ve been very successful using fluorescent nail varnish for heads or cheeks on buzzers. Also I’ve found some ‘gold sparkly’ type nail varnish that I’ve also successfully used. Another use for the fluorescent red varnish is on my salmon flies (mainly as heads on stoat tail doubles) they really ‘glow’ in the water 👍

@theflyguytfgfliesАй бұрын
Thanks! I don't use them all the time but I stash some gear clipped under my elevated seat. I try to keep it dry as best I can. If I do take on water from rough runs in a creek/river, I will just beach the yak, pull the plugs, and drain it. Doesn't happen too often though.

Great Fly Tying.If you recall the Bonefish Bitters pattern,I really like how you finish the dumbell eyes.I believe as well that color combinations are endless.Also a smooth head finish is a little more snag free.Thankyou
@theflyguytfgfliesАй бұрын
Thank you! You are right about the snagging. I don't lose as many to snags unless I am fishing super aggressive. Once I figured out fabric paint, I haven't looked back. That bonefish pattern is a good looking fly and I bet a smaller version would crush carp. Thanks again!
