I have enjoyed every moment of your videos and commentary on this journey. I feel privileged to come along. Thank you.

Glad you got good weather for the Goat Rocks. Calamity Jane, how appropriate with all the slips and falls. #notdead

10 day forecast for Snoqualmie Pass is looking great - just some potential for rain overnight from Monday into Tuesday. After that sunny and 80's by next weekend.

if you can lay down some pine branch of foliage. you will get way less splash back. The bushes will capture drops.

That was Sheep Springs where you got water. I live just a few miles from there. We often find ourselves staying the night there and occasionally making a extra meal or two for some weary travelers… sorry we missed you! Safe travel and thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I'm not sure what I would have chosen in that storm. Trees are great shelters from big rain...unless they get struck by lightning! I'm really glad it wasn't any worse than this. And that half tree! Maybe that's what happens when a tree makes a sound in the forest but doesn't fall?

102 days to get through California. 15 days to get through Oregon That’s crazy! In a longitudinal / straight path I’d say California is only 3 times longer than Oregon. What was the biggest variable in making California take nearly 7 times longer to hike? Length of trail? Terrain / elevation?
@StrollHikes5 күн бұрын
I had to skip 193 miles of Oregon due to fires and smoke. But we're also walking 25 miles a day rather than 18-ish. And California is 1692 trail miles while Oregon is 458 trail miles.

I watched the radar of that thunderstorm wash over the whole Mt. Hood area. Looked spicy. It was spicy here in the Seattle area. Only thing I can think of for the splash issue is perhaps some already downed vegetation at the drip line of the fly.

To put your splash back experience into perspective, this storm we just had was extraordinary and brought down way more water than in a normal rain shower. My guess is that you won’t have this problem again and future rain will just gently patter down without forming puddles and spray.

I crossed Russel Creek two weeks ago and the snow bridge still covered the crossing so we all walked over it. A bit risky. Looks like it collapsed at some point during the last couple of weeks. Wild how fast these things change.

That's a pretty cool sign there towards the end, the raised letter one.

Love that view of 3 Finger Jack. Those strata are amazing. Quite the mess on those trees - that would be quite the challenge with crosscuts.

Classic shot of South Sister at 2:25. Lupin at 5:54, oh yeah. That is a lot of Lupin. 9:24 - I remember those obsidian outcrops well. Crazy the amount of glass there.

Lots of fresh cut trees in the late part of this vid. Mid Oregon has been busy.

Outstanding! We loved seeing the crazy lava flows, the waterfall, the obsidian, and the paintbrush. We also very much enjoyed the magical moment of seeing the pebbles dance underwater from the upwelling of the spring. And then to end the day with pizza and beer delivered by the hilarious Bone Daddy! A terrific day on a spectacular section of the PCT.

Now that looks like quite the treat there at the end.

Let us know where those 160 trees are relative to the road up from Seiad. I'd be interested in heading that way with a brushing and logout crew. Could be some fun trigger time with the chain and brush saws.

Very good call on the skip. Unhealthy air is absolutely a valid reason. Also good to take pressure off of the deadline. Look out Cascade Locks, here they come!

That’s a question I’ve wondered about for you and other hikers. What is the experience of being a thruhiker months and then entering back into everyday life. And how you prepare for that transition. Good to see you are healthy and no long lasting effects from being sick.

What? You could have just hitched? NOW you say so! (But for real. I'm so glad he/we could help make it happen. It made our whole week to get to be a tiny part of your journey.) Also, tell Fugitive that I TOTALLY get the treasure of a salad and dressing...fresh produce! Sorry you carried an extra 16 oz for naught, though. :-)
