I mean they kind fo tried this with barbarian asault; as it gives you bonus xp in agility and it's still irrelevant content regardless; one of the reasons is that it's group content and that is an issue in itself, especially without plugins

??? it absolutely affects you as it drives down the price of items on the market because the demand is instantly gone. On top of that, it lowers the requirements to progress in the game which speeds up the rate at which someone will leave as they didn't work for the reward. When these people leave it drives down the assumed value players will put into the game, making them need to monetize harder to acquire the same money they had before. Look at literally any pay to win game and see how quickly they fall apart and the community bails.

you and a lot of casuals who've reshaped the game completely. MTX is never good unless done moderately for cosmetics. To pay for progress and wins? Go play a gotcha and throw your money away for bright flashing lights and colors, get that dopamine hit and get off.

@@ChevalricRS You can AFK abyssal beasts and get massive amounts of salvages and clues. Its quite a good money maker. Its why you'll see so many people doing it in the wildy at certain spots. Also quite good for clue farming though lords are better for elites.

You can pick the rewards (like the lore hound or the armor) but can also change them with a cooldown so by the end you can get any of them just not all at once. But then also you get one time random rewards for certain milestones (like the lucky dice). It makes the questing rewards extra appealing, I'm just surprised they don't use that system elsewhere or at least something similar

Also there are games that are F2P and deliver more content than RS3 so I would say value proposition of 70€ a year is valid for someone who knows they are gonna play for that year but new player won't most likely buy 70€ premier 12 month membership instead they buy that 12€ month realise that is overpriced af or that they they are not playing nearly enough to justify it and they will stop. I would love for RS3 to thrive, I spent 7 years in it but I am fairly certain that ship has sailed away long time ago and it won't get better. And it's not just marketing it is constant small bs feature errors and mistakes that pops up with major updates, it took them literally 5 years to make a good make-x option for smithing since original smithing rework, jagex accounts which were supposed to make accounts more secure added feature that allowed people hijack characters if they weren't part of the new system, and let's not forget the 2.7 trillion gp/h dupe that came to be because of new max cash stack value update. Like these things actually piss me off because it's happening all the time. I wish something would make me excited from those reveals for next year and only thing I am excited about is reading transcript for amascut quests because I waited over 5 years for continuation of 'phite club.

Honestly I wish bonds were removed from the game entirely or used for anything BUT membership. It's a nice idea on paper for players to be able to buy membership with gold but what it results in is huge amounts of alts leading to a very similar impact on the economy that bots have (quickly devaluing things like the new primal ores and golden party hat).

There are issues with MTX and it’s not just about the xp. instead of making cool earnable gear that represent some sort of accomplishment, they just sell it on the store. RS3 looks so goofy when compared to OSRS because of all the cosmetics and random emotes that look so out of place. Also gp on treasure hunter is so counterintuitive to the gold sinks in game. (There are for sure more issues)

I agree that its non of anyones business what you spend or not, but mtx as it is rn is unhealthy for the game; it promotes gambling, is negative PR and hurts the development space for content as everything needs to be balanced around xp lamps and stars due to them needing to be relevant

Xp no, gp is kind of a necessary evil; a lot of people forget that bonds werent introduced to give an in-game way to buy membership, that was the sales pitch, the reason was to combat rwt websites for gp

the thing about xp is that it effects you exactly in zero methods. unless you are higher on the leaderboards, it doesnt matter. oh wait... it still doesnt because the race to top of the list is also bxp locked. how others get to the real game shouldnt be an argument at this point. The only mtx I directly oppose are the gacha gambling types. Otherwise its your money and how you play. no pw2 exists in rs3 on a literal scale. the difficulty of rs3 is so high when it comes to bossing that bis stuff does nothing for you. you have to know how to use them for it to matter and mtx wont fix that.

Runecoins and bonds is a safer mtx than treasure hunter keys though, why would they remove the least harmful mtx or the option for broke players to buy GP/for people to pay for membership with their own gold?

Let people spend them first, but if anything they are the least worrysome form of mtx
