Having purchased the A2214 around 18 months ago and used it on a number of testing jobs yes it does what it is intended to the downside is it was clearly designed and developed without any real world site input and beta testing. The lead lengths make it awkward to use in some cases and impractical to use on other jobs, using it can be a marmite thing and at times it is more practical to use the traditional methods. Would I recommend it in it's current design that would be a NO

That labeling is confusing as it shows bright LEDs as black and black ones as white. I wonder was it originally intended for white background but someone reversed just the colors. In the UK it seems to be quite common to have all three lights on when the socket is OK. Elsewhere it is more common to have just two as that is a much simpler design.

Can do the same thing with a water manometer and doesn’t require monthly verification of accuracy (for liability purposes). Electronics is great but sometimes simplicity is more important and reliable. Being from the states , I was wondering why you approve, soft solder gas lines ? I am sure you all have housefires from time to time . Why would you want to put the first responders in any more danger than needed ?

My auto focus option gives me only blurry images. So much to the point I can’t make out what I am seeing. Is a tripod/monopod required? To keep the camera hyper Still such as when shooting long exposure photos?

Hi Joli, Autofocus on the T5xx can either be used with the ‘thermal contrast’ or ‘laser’ option. If the laser is selected, then whatever the laser point strikes should be automatically focused (in theory). The thermal contrast option can be less effective if the temperature contrasts within the field of view are very low, potentially creating a more blurred image. If the thermal contrasts are good, then this should also focus the image clearly. It could be that there is an issue with the autofocus function, in which case it might need to be returned to service (a firmware update to the latest version can sometimes help resolve some issues).

Great video. Got a Vloc Pro 3 last year and it is a great piece of equipment. I still have my Metrotech 810 and a Pipehorn, tools I started with back in 1989. Locate equipment has come a long way over the years.
