Meanwhile Singapore, the world's 1st country to have such a congestion pricing (back in 1975, though its cheaper), also had political leaders convince us of the need to ban public alcohol consumption at night, by conversely pointing to NYC too & saying: "NYC already had such a ban since 1975 too, so why're you complaining?"

Yeah when it's done all kinds of people will say oh what a great system that California finally has they'll totally forget about the cost. That is except unless they live in California and they are paying for it and realizing that nobody's riding it

In Johannesburg South Africa , our brt system is despised by private car users, who seem to assume any public transportation is "dangerous" (perpetuated by economic inequality and apartheid planning). For me, it's really exciting because light rail doesn't even feel like a possibility, but has taken extremely long to implement. this one brt station takes up α lane in the middle of the road and has been dormant for about 10 years. The brt company has recently been put onto business rescue and development is continuing 🎉

There is a town in Wisconsin called New London that looks like a textbook definition of the ideal rural town. But it also has a tad bit of the corporate businesses like a dominos and a little ceasers. But that is a very small amount. I believe that it combines the best of both worlds

I really appreciate the W line and its stop at Olde Town Arvada. There is a Park-and-Ride on one side, but the other side is the super cute downtown Arvada. It’s the only line I use for occasions outside of work or school (maybe going to IKEA on the E line). The E line also has a stop at S. Pearl which is an awesome place to hang out at. Other than those two and the ones that run downtown, it is pretty much built solely for suburban commuters. It’s sad to see how misused RTD stations are. They could lead to little multi-use communities but they don’t which is sad.

Well here in Bilzen (a semi rural town in south Limburg, Belgium) we have 4 trains per hour and 12 busses per hour outside of rush hour (during rush hour they put in some extra, I think 2 trains and 8 busses or smth like that). We also have people that are complaining that the busses are full (and yes they are during rush hour) so even semi rural towns can have a lot of public transportation and still have people complaining the busses are full so they don't take them

Also, your pitch is pretty weak…we should follow the spending habits of the…Soviet Union…and because one singular American railroad electrified, it’s a cinch to electrify the whole network. Hope you don’t want to run these trains at night….that electricity isn’t so green, comrade!

This is an educational video, but I do find it odd how much you're overlooking the fact that these massive public transportation projects disproportionately effect black and brown neighborhoods. "Build through neighborhoods!" is the claim, but if you ignore the historical context around *which* neighborhoods were targeted for public works expansions, your argument reads as surface level. There is a reason why nimbyism is more common in lower socioeconomic communities, and it's because the government has a less than stellar track record of fair reimbursement for those individuals. A crucial initial step for these endeavors is ensuring fair compensation and equitable decision making around which neighborhoods are to be cleared for civic works.

Dr Jill Stein was LEGALLY elected POTUS in 2016 until antiAmerican trumpsters STOLE the election from her. And Ralph Nader was LEGALLY elected POTUS in 2000 and 2004, but GW Bush stole the election with fraudulent hacking. Greens should have put all republicans to deaths for their crimes. Greens should have stormed the US Capitol. Fighting Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) is infinitely more important than nationalistic legalistic bullshit. Dr Jill Stein and Ralph Nader were the GREATEST AMERICAN PRESIDENTS EVER! Looking forward to Dr Jill Stein & Stormy Daniels being elected POTUS and VP in 2024! If Ralph Nader or Dr Jill Stein or any Green or any other minority political party were in power, aliens and their technology would have been disclosed the first day on the job. Remember when conservative fascists like Ben Shitpiro INSULTED & THREATENED Dr Jill Stein for demanding a recount in Wisconsin in 2016, as was her absolute legal right to do? I do. Greens, Marxists, Communists, Libertarians, Transhumanists & JustStopOil & StopHavingKids soldiers have been illegally and wrongfully kept off ballots and televised debates for decades and arrested. There exists ZERO reason to have ANY bleeding heart conservative sympathy for trump or any republicans being kept off ballots. Try to generate an ORIGINAL THOUGHT IN YOUR HEAD FOR A CHANGE. ALL publicity is good publicity is true either for everyone or no one. 99.9% of voters vote for politicians only because big media gives them infinite free exposure. No clue what their policies or other quantifiable testable physical consequences of that politician being office and making laws are. ANYBODY could be elected POTUS. 100% certain: if big media gave Green Party all the same infinite free attention that the extremist conservatives and spineless centrists get, then Green Party would be in the White House. Biden and trump are spoilers. A vote for them only causes Chris Christie to win. The only way to turn this country around for the better is to elect Dr Jill Stein POTUS! I have joked that I'd LOVE it if Al Franken ran with Stein as VPOTUS, so we'd have the FrankenStein ticket. But, seriously: Dr Jill Stein + Mary Trump 2024! And I am no pacifist. I am PRO-NUCLEAR WAR against Russia/Putin. I am for nuking ALL nationalist, monarchic, theocratic, oligarchic, plutocratic, antiMarxist, antiCommunist, antiworker, anti-worker, anti-science, anti-biotechnology, pro-factory-farming, pro-natalist hypocritical places on earth: UK, Russia, USA, Saudi Arabia, China, North Korea, Brazil, Argentina. I don't care if someone (e.g. China, NK) are Communist in name only. If they are not for making it the law that CEOs get paid the same as the workers from whom they profit, nuke them. Nuke all prisons on earth to free all prisoners. All prisoners are prisoners of war. Especially the trillions of innocent fully sentient non-fetal animals in factory farms. Pro-life implies vegan. Reductionism says everything differs in magnitude, not in kind: all conflicts differ in magnitude, not in kind. A nuclear bomb is just a bigger gun or a bigger prison: correction: a prison inflicts greater pain & suffering than a nuclear bomb does. Soldier = politician = criminal = terrorist = revolutionary = rebel = patriot = murderer = prison guard = police officer = judge = protestor = rally attendee = rioter = political candidate. All are just sets of atoms trying to maximize pain & suffering of an opponent while minimizing pain & suffering of those on their side.

@user-uo7fw5bo1o WRONG. ZERO absolutes about politics. How many BILLIONS of times have idiots who do not know the difference between ABSOLUTE PHYSICAL DETERMINISTIC CONSEQUENCES of an action or choice -- proved by science -- versus a person or group of people making a choice -- asserted "so and so will NEVER get elected" or "so and so law will NEVER get passed" -- and then they get elected, or that law gets passed? That's what they said about "Obama will never be elected". And then he was. "Mexico will never elect a woman president or climate scientist president" And then they did.

You have no right to speak on NYC situations. Most New Yorkers including myself do not want congestion pricing. It will only affect the working poor and the middle class. Why should drivers have to pay to fix a transit system that is a money pit. If YOU and anyone else like Yourself would like to pay to drive through Manhattan, then send a check to the government every time you do so, you should also volunteer to pay more taxes or stfu 🤫

As an American who loves driving my car, loves watching trains, did not mind rail transport during my 5 years in England, and has to currently commute due to having a service van. I absolutely support this video. I genuinely believe if we built up our passenger rail services in the US (especially the coastal states) to assist and aide commuters, that we would drastically cut back on shitty drivers who would never drive if they could choose not to, and all the road raging idiots. This would allow all the people who *have to* commute via motorways due to the nature of their job/career have much easier/faster commutes and faster response times to emergencies. And this would also help all the people who enjoy driving have the best chances to just simply drive whenever and wherever they want for fun and not get stuck in gridlock. Now we just need to stop our governments from trying to ban all ICE's and encourage car manufacturers to create fun cars again with manual in mind

Most of these people's voters are the 'I've always voted on party lines and need to stick to *my* party' people who only care about the presidential election, and just check off anyone with a D next to their name knowing literally nothing about what their policies are, this is the 2nd time they've seen their name in their life on the ballot. The first may have been from the lawn signs. They could also get funding from cutting all the gender programs, cut back the welfare programs, stop buying themselves shit, (look at the salary vs where they live, always leagues above somehow.), and lord knows how much is being thrown at the illegals they so desperately wanted up there. They have this money bound up in things, they don't need to just keep increasing your taxes but its what democrats love doing the most besides starting wars in foreign countries we have nothing to do with.

Congestion pricing has already been shown to NOT eliminate car pollution but instead push it OUT into poorer burrows which is why this plan already pledged money for asthma treatment in those areas after congestion pricing-truly sick. & it's not rich people complaining about this: it's the SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS WHO NEED THEIR CARS to do things like move goods to & from their shops. This plan seems flawed.

Its really not hamptoninites who are the reason this is ending.I know you said in this video you are from Philadelphia so maybe you arent really aware what Demographic really is most adamant towards congestion pricing. Its not wealthy Hamptonites but lower middle class meatheads. And a lot of these people are nowhere near close to suburbanites. They live in New York city and are life long new yorkers.Go ask what a bunch of old meatheads who live in row houses in Glendale, maspeth, and middle village who have maga and blue lives matter flags hanging from they're porch think about congestion pricing.i also think you might not understand who exactly she is pandering to when she uses words like "helping working class famillies". When politicians, especially older establishment politicians from the northeast use phrases like that,it is almost always in reference to working-middle class/lower middle class people who's incomes are at least in the 50k range, not actual poor black or puerto ricans in nycha.Old school archie bunker type whites from the outer boroughs absolutely despise anything like congestion pricing, for many reasons, including that these people despite not living in the suburbs, either mostly commute by car or if they have a subway near them, its a long ride thats a pain in the ass or for other reasons will refuse to take it.Italians from howard beach would never over they're dead bodies take the a train through east NY and Brownsville into the city for work, and i wouldn't either.Taking the train all the way from Gravesend into the city can be a pain in the ass, especially during rushour, and while driving might not be much more time efficient,at least people can sit in they're comfort of they're own car rather then be stuck standing with a million other people cruched next to them in rushhour in a smelly train that slows down for 5 mintues right before it reches the station every other stop.also even if she didnt chicken on this it would have been dismantled in 2 years anyway.long islanders, westchesterites,as well as staten islanders half of queens and a lot of south brooklyn would vote her out because in addition to the suburbs, all these major areas in the outer boroughs will vote functionally the same as the subrubs because all these areas are very pro car and more then not drive more then they commute by train.Half of queens literally doesn't even have a subway runnning throguh it,and u speak of things like the lirr and how big they're ridership is as if the average person in long island or let alone bayside or Whitestone commutes by it when that is absolutely not the case lmaooo.the way u speak of a lot things about new York shows u are a bit out of touch with some very basic Demographic and cultural facts about native new yorkers, especiallt ones in the outer boroguhs like queens.Im a native lifelong new yorker who has never met a person who thinks that driving through Manhattan at any time is mentally ill.U wouldn't find one native new yorker who isn't just some transplant that lives in Brooklyn heights that thinks driving all around Manhattan late at night with you're friends and just chilling and blasting music isnt fun.Yeah no shit nobody wants to drive around in rushour in manhatten or anywhere, but u sound like a very stuck up hyper environmentalist urbanist who isnt really aware of what the average new yorker likes or dislikes.not to say environmentalism or urbanism are bad,i consider myself to be both to a large extent.but the average new Yorker absolutely loves to drive in they're car and blast music and feel the wind blast they're face down the lie or fdr.Weather its in Washington heights or queens or brooklyn, many people loving driving and make a show of it, especially the Dominicans.so ur wanting to driving in Manhattan makes u mentally ill comment just seems like another very out of touch comment from a non new yorker, who tries to push they're own likes and narratives on a whole city to make it seem like this is how it should be and this what people who are actually from here think. Its almost like ur appropriating the opinion of what average new yorkers think about this issue and completely erase the diversity of opinion and thought about congestion pricing from borough to borough and neighborhood to neighborhood, and just making it seem like anyone who is against congestion pricing is some rich nimby in the Hamptons.
