I’ve got alabaster satin on my north facing foyer walls. I wanted a warm black for interior double entry door and a warm color just a smidge darker than the alabaster for the two closet doors and all trim. Any advice on closet and trim color and sheen? Also which black would you recommend. I was thinking matte for the black double door. Thanks!
@BalanceRhythm3 күн бұрын
Check out this video for my recommendations for sheen ➡️kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qdWjldRjl5m-oWg.html . Every space is different because of lighting conditions and existing finishes so I usually recommend Samplize.com for color selection. They have a darks bundle that should be helpful in making a choice that's unique to your space.

I really prefer very minimal decor in my space. Is it bad to have basically nothing on a coffee table?
@cynthiajohnston4245 күн бұрын
Must weigh in on this as a pet parent . Cats have a tendency to " own " or remove whatever space / item they choose & dog tails ( especially Labs ) will remove whatever is left that the cats are not sleeping on , so the answer is a resounding " Yes ! " . I finally gave my coffee table to a friend after the table being regularly moved & even lifted by a Lab who napped under it . 😂🐾🐾💙

About plants in bedroom? How do you keep them alive? Without changing them all the time?
@BalanceRhythm6 күн бұрын
It depends on the plant. I really like snake plants and golden pothos because they don't need a lot of light. Other than that, some water every couple of weeks will keep them alive.

Will Swiss coffee , white dove , west Highland white look good in darker rooms with a few east facing windows & 1 north facing window. Would Simpliy white look too yellow? Im not a fan of stark white on walls, but most of the home could use brightening. Woukd Chantily Chantily lace be too stark?
@BalanceRhythm6 күн бұрын
Chantilly Lace is one of the brightest whites out there. All of the other colors you mentioned are not as bright but still pretty light so they should add a little warmth to those cooler rooms while brightening them up. The only way to know for sure is to get samples ( I recommend samplize.com) and view them in the space at all times of day and in all lighting conditions.

Quick question - would warm whites (I’m Leaning towards white dove, alabaster, or simply white ) work in bathrooms that have light gray tiles? Or is that too warm of a white to put with light gray tiles. I would think it’s pretty, but this is my first time painting whites & im doing almost my whole home in white shades & monochromatic:)
@BalanceRhythm6 күн бұрын
It depends on if the gray is cool or has a little warmth to it. If it's very cool it might make the paint look dingy if it's too warm. Definitely get samples and look at them with the tile. You'll know as soon as you compare them. I hope that helps a bit!

can one floor with seperate rooms. Not quite open space but only 3 closed rooms out of the 7 rooms. Can they be different variations of white?
@BalanceRhythm12 күн бұрын
Great question! I recommend keeping the color the same in all the areas that are open but maybe change it up in the closed off spaces. A deeper color in a room that's pretty open, like a dining room, can look nice but using two whites might look like you tried to match it but missed.

Hello Liz, like your channel! Any recommendations for soft whites for East facing bedroom
@BalanceRhythm23 күн бұрын
I'm so happy you're enjoying the channel! All of the soft whites presented in the video can be a good choice or you can use them as a starting point. Samplize.com is a great paint sample resource that has bundles organized by color and warmth/coolness and is a great place to compare and order samples. With an east facing window you'll get warmer light in the morning and cooler light in the afternoon so it depends on the look you're going for and the time of day you most use the room.

I believe another tip for updating your home is to shop your own home before buying anything. I love that I purchased versatile furniture, decor, and wall art that can be used in multiple ways and I can transition it from one space to another to keep a fresh look to the house.

Could you please explain what you mean by "shop your own home?" 🙂
@decoratingwithjoshaywoods758015 күн бұрын
@@nostromo7928 hey it’s basically repurposing what you already have on hand. Such as using a small dresser from a bedroom and moving it to an entryway as a console table to drop keys and styling it with decor and maybe a table lamp. I like purchasing furniture that I can easily transition throughout the house if I grow tired of it in one space then I can simply transition it to another space in the house.

I love your suggestions! Paint is one way I freshen up my home because, as you say, it's cost effective and very impactful. I'm not very handy with mitering, but I do like the look of picture frame molding. I have done a great deal with embellishing baseboards, though! Thanks so much! One question though: my home has limited natural light. What are your thoughts on artificial plants? Better to go without?
@BalanceRhythm26 күн бұрын
My pleasure! I'm so happy you liked the suggestions! Artificial plants are a matter of personal preference. There are some that look very realistic but I personally prefer live plants. Some good low light options are snake plants, ZZ plants, philodendron and I've had pretty good luck with golden pothos. If you're looking for a tree, Dracaena is supposed to be good for low light although I don't have personal experience with them (yet!).

Good advice here and I take like that it was given without mis-using rediculous descriptive terms like "flowing energy" and "bring the joy of the urban stress relief in to the heart of the window bay" or some such nonsense.

I'm a bit dense when it comes to design but I'll admit I'm confused as to what makes modern coastal distinct from timeless elegance. Is it the colour palette? Or some combination of textures? Thank you!
@BalanceRhythmАй бұрын
Great question! Regarding the looks presented it's really a matter of how they were put together. Modern coastal is more clean-lined and minimal whereas the Timeless Neutrals look has more traditional/transitional elements to it.
