Why do I fantasize every day about moving away from Seattle? Out-of-control high population density, cars everywhere; cold, unfriendly people; more corporate now than quirky, the libtardia is flagrant, obnoxious; pollution; and more...Why have I not left yet? Extended family, kids, good employment, girlfriend, and the natural beauty of the Puget Sound area.

I lived in North Seattle from late 90's to 2011, just blocks from the Seattle/Shoreline city border - N 145th St. Fair assesment overall, though I wasn't aware of the propensity for power outages, but it makes sense. I lived between Aurora Ave N and I-5 (near Meridian Ave N) - I didn't see any of the affects of Aurora Ave N/Hwy-99/ 'the strip' in my immediate neighborhood , but the concerns are well founded. Lots of nefarious activity is conducted along Hwy99... but I always felt it 'cleaned up' a bit north of N 145th St - Shoreline's southern border with Seattle. Shoreline's Hwy99 improvements - adding the plant filled meridian in the road, and adding the sidewalks did add to an atmosphere of a nicer environment, especially compared to the neglected state of Hwy99 in Seattle.

She just wants everyone to think Seattle, I live east of Bellevue and it’s where we go for the mall to shop, the Korean and Japanese markets are there too. Some really good restaurants also. There are bars, just not the big nightclubs. The whole Seattle metro area is just expensive to rent or own. You need to drive about 20 miles south or further for affordable housing. The light rail, really is designed to handle the north/south traffic volume, in ad out of Seattle, the Eastside link was done to help the large number of Microsoft employees who may live in Seattle. It does little to deal with the traffic issues on I-405. If you can afford Bellevue or east to Sammamish, it’s much better than the issues in Seattle metro.

Lived in Seattle for 10 years. It took me 5 years to get use to the weather. Greenery and summer is the best in there but not enough sunshine. Every single thing you said about Seattle is true. People, the traffic, the homeless and all. And not getting any better. Glad I moved out of the state.

The weather is horrid, driving during the winter is a death-wish and visibility is none, illicit substances are everywhere, the crime rate is out of control, businesses are having to leave because it's too expensive, the minimum wage is killing low margin businesses, the city is doing nothing about homeless encampments, squatters have rights, STDs are really bad, you are taxed to death in Seattle especially, and the justice system here allowed an 18 year old to kill 4 people in a car accident (he had a bad record) and let a 16 year old off murdering an innocent 13 year old girl. Oh yea, and they're allowing woke doctrine into the schools.

People in the comments keep mentioning the "drug problems" and "homeless issues". It's a nationwide issue here in the U.S.. "Every major city" has homelessness and drug addiction issues unless you're in the middle of nowhere and off the grid doing that van life. Probably the reasons you don't see it in your city is cuz you're proud of your city to admit it or cognitive dissonance. I've visited over 30 major cities and lived in 5 including New York, Austin, L A, San Diego, and currently Phoenix (and maybe soon to be Seattle). Tents and zombified people are everywhere in every major city. It's not a hidden secret that the U.S. has an addiction problem that stems from the declining mental health rate. People would argue that it's the ease of access of drugs because they're getting past boarder patrols but if people were in a better state of mind they wouldn't be hooked on substances. Politicians won't put more money in proper mental health care either because the drugs is what makes them more money and it's presence is what keeps them in power.

Yes, Bothell tends to be on the higher side for home prices. Being in a desirable school district contributes to that. Median sales price for June 2024: $1.124M. You can definitely find homes for less than that in Bothell, but it's become quite popular over the years. It's insane how much prices have gone up in Bothell in the past 5 years.

For millions and millions and it isnt said or shown where our millions has gone and no effects seem of any help promised Rain....not really, but we have 3 watm months lol😂 Fentanyl is acceptable on transit and actually everywhere because its all decriminalized. They told us one spec will kill us all but in public everywhere including on transit and right downtown in front of multi million dollar businesses and your kids and grandparents. Traffic.....well people here no longer test at licensing places . Its all done at traffic school owned by nom english speaking indian and African "driving schools"😂😂😂its a joke. People....they dont believe in owning guns and disnt wamt police so they left . No one helps elderly or stands up for youth who have to take transit to and from school daily and all they see is drug use and mentally ill everywhere Mentally ill....they are free to wamder and atent arrested. Mon violent vrimes are ignored so get used to naked, screaming, playing in poo, finding overdosed people, etc and all over the city Prices ...twntong or buying is insane and anyone can put a tent on your property and they will be left there legally as long as they like. Yea on your property. Your million dollar home. 4 major colleges... actually more but nothing is open late to eat or buy groceries from sp get everything early . Very early. Still excited to live here, visit here. Even the u of wa has signs up for socialist job fairs 😂😂😂 It's insane Shootings and killing nightly but not on the mews because who would spend a million dollars on a home or condo of they knew that. Theres no mental health help and no forced help for them or drug users doing fentanyl, and yes crimes galore including.....walk out of any store ypu like with full carts because security cant touch you and police can't come if its not a violent crime😂😂we were told one speck of dust would kill us😂😂😂😂but you are exposed daily. I promise. Coming here? Visit 3rd ave our main bus route and downtown. Visit aurora ave in the day and night. Ride transit . Read community papers and see trith about crime. Neverove kids and gamily here. Songle? Ok but i still wouldn't. Fyi, botn and raised here. Wishing i could leave. Live on and visit Bellevue. Night and day difference. Does anyone know about the high valley area, it’s on the other side of the mountain?
@whiteserpent6753
@whiteserpent6753 5 күн бұрын
Anything on the south side will have extremely bad traffic going up to issaquah (north) starting at around 6:30 up to around 9:30, then again (heading south) between 2:30 and 6:30. I can describe Mirrormont, which is not too far away from High Valley, and, based on when we were shopping for houses, not that different. It’s often easier to go into Renton (especially so from High Valley), or go south to 18 and go to Maple Valley or Covington. These southern outlying areas are the last priority in the winter when King County is clearing the roads, and similarly if there’s a widespread power outage. One of these days, we’re installing a whole house generator (the house is all electric). I assume that High Valley also uses wells (like Mirrormont), and you’re going to usually get big lots, larger houses, slopes, ‘70s construction, septic tanks (no sewer lines). The one house we looked at in High Valley also had oil heat, and, even if converted, you may have old oil tanks to deal with. (Mirrormont mostly doesn’t, but that’s only because they tried having a central oil tank that distributed oil to all of the houses- and it turns out there are reasons you don’t do that. Half of the houses here are gas; half are now all electric). Other downsides- you can get DoorDash or Amazon Prime deliveries here, but you’re not going to be able to call a pizza place and get delivery from them. The buses don’t run this far south; they’re concentrated in Issaquah. There are cougars, coyotes, bears, and I see deer pretty frequently in Mirrormont (would assume HV is similar). It is not extremely uncommon for cougars to kill and run off with cats or small dogs, so, strongly advise against this area if you have these sorts of animals and want to keep them outside. If you’re someone who really likes to go out to eat, or who really loves to shop, or who loves the opera, symphony, theater, etc,- don’t live this far out. Just don’t. Doing any of these is an ordeal worthy of a heroic saga. It’s also very quiet and pretty dark at night. We don’t have street lights or sidewalks out here, for example, which isn’t shocking, but wait until winter when you are trying to get up early to walk your dog and see how you feel about it. We’ve owned a house out here for more than 20 years now, and the large house and large lot are sufficient inducement for us to live here, but that’s not going to be true for everyone.

I'm about a mile from High Valley. It's a nice neighborhood, but definitely on a mountainside. Expect a sloped lot. Weather can be "special" out here: more snow and ice. Your services will as likely be in Renton Highlands as Issaquah, but it's Issaquah Schools. Rain and clouds are worse than further west. Power outages can last for days, so be prepared for no electricity. With a generator you can run your oil or gas furnace, but you wouldn't need a whole house generator, unless that's your only heat source. You'll need to maintain your septic. Definitely a Subaru or Volvo neighborhood, or you'll need to stay home if it's snowy. I think upper High Valley will be about 1,000' elevation; down near the bottom is more like 3-500' elevation. For being so close in to the urban area it's very rural. It takes me 30 minutes to get into Seattle with no traffic, and going through Renton is a good alternative if I-90 is clogged. If the weathmen start talking about "The Cascade Foothills", these areas are it!
