I'll have to try runners. I'm experimenting by breaking the rules and growing French beans in Scotland! it's somewhat successful but I get the feeling runner beans will be much more at home here :)

Peach looks fantastic, sadly even in a polytunnel I guess its been a bit cold this year for a load of the semi tropical fruits a vegetables. BTW did you see any flower buds on your pineapple guava plants this summer or are they still too small ?

Lots looking good in there Dan. I've got 4 bitter gourds - one in the polytunnel, one by a window indoors and two outside. Despite having lots of success growing them outside in the past, this year they are (unsurprisingly considering the weather) looking a bit haggard. Have struggled with the aubergines this year, but finally getting some fruit. Blueberries doing well. Raspberries suffering. Lots either wilting or the leaves are browning and collapsing.

Been rather a disaster in my tunnel this year, and outside. Slugs and snails combined with very poor growth. Lots of peppers doing nothing, some still only five or six inches high, despite being planted in a heated propagator in late January. Utterly rubbish. And don’t get me started on the squashes. Big healthy plants, planted outside mid May, destroyed by slugs. I like the peach tree idea - I might go with a fig too, as love figs. I presume they’re in the ground and not in pots?

Failure, and success is my answer to your question. I believe it is possible to experience both failure, and success, and this is what I see on your video. If everything you try to grow becomes unhealthy, or dies then I believe this would be a complete failure. Regarding the melon plant, I think you should not expect something to happen on it is own. If pollination is not done then I do not think you will get any melons. I know 2, or 3 different options exist, for pollinating flowers that produces food. I think it is possible depending on what you choose to grow then you could get a little bit of food such as in the melon family, or nothing at all, and if something does grow then there is a possibility that it can become unhealthy.

Nice crop of peaches Dan, I'd call that a success! I hope your nectarine tree recovers 🤞. I have a 'Lord Napier' nectarine tree growing in a pot in my greenhouse, with 2 fruits holding on, hopefully they will ripen 🤞

Peaches look scrummy. I am slowly getting there with my garden . Tried out sweetcorn this year & the earwigs enjoyed them mostly & tried peas , which now I know the Cabbage White Butterfly lays eggs , although the caterpillars are quite cute , ended up in my compost heap 😊 . Hoping to get a Greenhouse next year , as wanted my shed first , which I have now got ☺️. Happy growing Dan 😀

I'm also growing sugar baby watermelons, In an old commercial greenhouse with a lot of glass missing. The vines took ages to start growing properly, and the flowers were just falling off constantly. I think I have 2 fruit set between 5 plants, It's the first time I've grown them and im assuming it just isnt warm enough this year for them

All things being equal I'd say you're doing as well as can be. Seems everyone's tomatoes are late. Outside my blueberry bushes appeared to die/entered autumnal sleep just as they were forming berries. Thus no crop this year & oddly fresh green shoots/leaves this week. The EMF environment is also a bit concerning apart from the obscured sun.

Very interesting Dan, I have 6 varieties of tomatoes on the go in my polytunnel and I only picked my first red ones this week, plently of large green ones which hopefully will be ready in the next week or so. Very poor results with my melons this year, only 5 melons growing from 6 plants when I would expect at least 3 per plant. Growing Blacktail mountain for the first time this year after seeing your results last year, only one melon fruiting currently about 150mm in diameter. relativrely poor crop from raspberries this year altough strawberries have done well. Overall I think the poorer results this year have been down to poor light levels and relatively cool conditions.

I was inspired by your trees in the polytunnel and did the same this year.. my peach tree has about 12 peaches on but nothing on my nectarine.. the trees are about 6ft now but still thin as only young trees.. I’d be interested to know how often you water them of at all? Also a video on how you maintain the size of them would be great as they are now just touching the roof with some spindly branches.. I’m much looking forward to eating a home grown peach 😊 My melons and watermelons are much behind this year in the greenhouse.. weather has just been miserable for the most part here in the midlands. Have a good weekend mate ✌️

Your poly-tunnel looks fine. Perhaps a bit full but those peaches are great. Cool weather is limiting your crops this year; that’s a shame. I have some crops that usually are harvested in October. This year, the harvest has been random, just whenever it feels like it.

Spuds. Spuds and more Spuds beyond fruit they are probably the easiest crop to grow if grown in tubs, in my experience. I don’t think frost will be an issue with our now warmer climate I mean we hardly had a winter last year, and where I live in Woodford I only remember having frost on 1 or 2 days last winter and that wasn’t till after December. Keep the spuds coming Dan so versatile and filling 🌻✊🏽🌎

Howdy, Dan! 👋 Yay, for more potatoes!😋 I reuse my planting medium...have done so for years. I've never had any issues from doing so. I grow in containers. In the spring I compost in place before planting my starts...feeds the plants when their roots hit the composting material and makes for some really rich soil when I go to secession plant.👩🏾‍🌾

Something will grow for sure. About 30+ years ago in my dole days in Ireland, we were completely skint when a lone potato provided a feast. We'd chucked in out into the unkempt garden as it was old and forgotten all about it. Until hungry eyes spotted the results weeks later. All the tubers fed three hungry doleheadsa fantastic feed of home made chips. A good day, and my first harvest ;)

Hiya, Dan! Greetings from the US. 🥰🌱❤️ I laughed so hard when you mentioned your “manicured” garden. 🤣🤣🤣 I admit that I’d make more videos if I didn’t constantly feel like my garden is in perpetual disarray! I actually had a video last year where someone commented I needed to clean up my yard, and I think that may have gotten to me. 😂 Anyway, thanks for the timely video, as I’ve got a few potatoes sprouted that I need to do something with. 🥰💕
