Great points about new lenses being released every month haha. But i guess the way it seems to be is just to buy what works for you and your shooting style and taste and just let it make you money, and not worry about it retaining value. I guess. The lenses look great, seems like a perfect match for the Komodo.

The 17-50 didn't work on many mount.. dsmc2, z cam, sigma mc21 adapteur, canon rf adapter.. and laowa don't want to refound me😢 it's a PL lens or mirrorless but almost impossible to use the EF mount

I know they aren’t made for full frame, but do you think the 17-50 would be an option for full frame, understanding that you’d be dealing with less on the wide end to crop out the vignetting. Asking for a new BMCC 6K full frame owner friend…

Yea I think plenty of cameras have good super 35 modes and I often just have my 18-35. I know a friend of mine was considering these lenses for that same camera. I think it’s a shame to not have something full frame but maybe the size and weight are more important.

That's why Tamron FE 17-50 f/4 comes in clutch for Sony shooters. It covers a unique FF focal range at a cost of only $700 and at a weight of only 550g.

It looks like they are in fact releasing interchangeable mounts on B&H. Plus they are FF versions of these Lenses just note the “lite” versions.

My biggest question is what is the color bit depth from the Pyxis SDI connection? If it's 10bit or higher, what's to stop someone from using a monitor/recorder to get a ProRes Raw image other than it's just UHD? If you don't need more than UHD, is this a possible scenario?

I respect the video but I don't think it's fair to talk about all these equipment in the terms presented. I don't think it's fair to call all the items lested minimum viability for the camera. In my opinion, you can get a workable camera for one battery, one SSD and an external monitor and all of that combined is going to be £400 extra max if for some reason someone doesn't already have an SSD. I think the general pressure on this camera isn't fair as cameras like the S52X (which I own) are not given a minimum viability setup even when in some ways, its more lacking than the Pixys

If you're planning to work professionally then 1 battery isn't enough. Not all locations will have the possibility to charge. You could go down the SSD route but not everyone has a SSD spare and I would still recommend having a spare in case you fill it or anything happens to it.

@thatcameranerd don't get me wrong, in the context of truly professional working environments, I would even argue what was listed isn't enough but it is possible to do good work with not as much as was listed if you get what I mean. I was just thinking with the other hybrid camera, people don't often list these types of redundancy for viability.

I don't have a dog in this fight. I don't own any of these brands. I currently own a Fuji. But from your sample footage, I'm liking the colors coming out of the 6k. However, if I were to consider purchasing one of these, I'd most likely go with the S5 II for being a great hybrid camera. Especially given its ability to save LUTs in camera which can be used for both photo and video. Great informative and entertaining content, mate!

I was conteplating many cinema cameras like good old Canon 6D with magic lantern and OG Pocket, but then i went with Sony Burano. It personally fits me best even though I will probably only use it for a few clips and snaps haha

Don’t think it’s gonna happen any time soon unfortunately, think it’s pretty likely they’re planning on releasing a cinema camera that’ll have that feature sometime soon. There isn’t really a reason it can’t do it externally so that’s the only thing I can think of.

There's no issue with ProRes. It's not gone. In Fusion Studio you can export ProRes with the Saver node. Your Davinci Resolve Studio license already works for Fusion Studio. In every blind test, I'm picking out the Blackmagic based on clarity and color. The Lumix was my least favorite.
