Hi great info. I recently applied for a PM certificate program but it’s only 15 hours. Do you believe that the Google program will be comprehensive enough for the CAPM?

Hey there, to clarify the Google program is not explicitly a CAPM prep course, it just gives you the hours to qualify to take the CAPM. I suggest looking at the CAPM Exam Content outline: www.pmi.org/-/media/pmi/documents/public/pdf/certifications/capm20ecofinal.pdf for more information on what you’ll need to know for the exam.

I suggest looking at Scrum Master job postings and compare to your experience to make that assessment.

I am seeking assistance to prepare for interviews. Despite having over 20 years of experience as an engineer, I find myself getting nervous and not presenting myself as the seasoned professional I am when in front of an interviewer or panel. Since the pandemic, I have attended many job interviews where I have been told that I have great experience, but under pressure, I struggle to articulate my thoughts clearly. I passed my CSM with a 98% and now I’ll be starting the IBM IT Project Management certification later this year or beginning of next year. I am currently a Business Systems Analyst at Starbucks now. Do you think I need to take CAPM if I have a CSM and will have a Certification via IBM?

The CAPM will be more recognized than the IBM certification so I would say yes.

Hi, I do not. But what I will say about project management is that the project lifecycle and concepts apply to any industry. The important part is to understand if what you’re working on meets the definition of a project and if it does, then the project lifecycle is applicable. What will be different will be are the outcomes for that particular project type.

I think PMs managing projects that are linked to technologycal change should have technical knowledge/understanding. Currently working on a project where PM is not technical, bless, PM gets lost in the conversations and asks me, the tester, to translate.

There are several paths. If you work primarily in Finance for instance, find a BA that works in Finance, ask for an informational interview and to shadow them on projects. Speak with your manager about your interest in becoming a BA. Look for BA internships.

Currently taking a Scrum master program. It was suggested to me by my sister-in-law who is in Cybersecurity to get the certification because of my HR and HRIS background. Plus I enjoy training and coaching to success. I had no idea what a Scrum Master was before she mentioned it and I did my research. Glad I found your channel for extra knowledge and guidance 🙏🏽.

What if I have my HS diploma but I still don't know the education behind the PM... I mean I don't want to do the Google just to get hours... do you think I should do the exam or the education?

PMP is a short-term answer, but it's not my aim, which is a BS in Project Management followed by an MBA, which will earn you $200k per year if you have an MBA. I have 10+ IT Project Management.

I have yet to see a trend in employers seeking someone with a PM degree, in fact curriculum for a PM degree is still fairly recent. A PMP in today’s market still is more commonly asked for from what I’ve seen on job postings than an MBA. It certainly can help but it’s more likely if a job is requiring an MBA, that’s for an executive level role which is beyond Project Management.

@@ProjectMgmtMadeSimple I been IT Project Manager for 12 years without PMP just completed 8 million dollar project in December 2023 Now I do have degree in IT. I see your point if one is trying to get into project management it maybe good idea to get PMP however at this point it’s useless to me.

Most positive narration of scrum yet, BUTT STILLL you do not get the crux of the matter here. Scrum masters are not meant to be leaders, so stop seeing your self as one and preaching to do so. And if you still somewhat believe you are a leader, you should take responsibility of the outcome. Claiming that development team is responsible for whatever the outcome is... negative/positive/desired/undesired but not you as a scrum master while talking about your role of leadership in the matter is UTTER NON-SENSE. I remind you that the first and foremost aspect of a leader is to take responsibility of the performance and state of the group she/he "LEAD"s and answer for where such LEADING make "the project" end up with.
