This is terrible advice. First, you’re likely growing salmonella in that jug. Second, the calcium isn’t water soluble and neither are the other nutrients in the shell, so all you’re doing is watering with water with extra bacteria growing. Instead, microwave or bake the shells and then grind them up. Add 10 parts of vinegar ro 1 part of your resulting egg shell powder in a large jar and it will make a soluble solution. Add a tablespoon of this to a gallon of water and then spray your leaves with it and water the roots with it and do this every couple of weeks.

i’m in search to find out how long the egg water vinegar solution lasts. I’ve looked online and while I find different directions on how to come to the final product of ground eggshells as fertilizer… I have not found how long does it last without refrigeration. I also don’t have room for the refrigerator so I don’t put it in there anyway. the method I used was soaking the eggshells in water for half the day, then emptied water, rinsed and peeled out the membrane. Then baked in the oven 250° for 20 minutes. Then I just left them in there overnight and handled them the next day. I used the coffee grinder to get a fine powder. I’ve made two batches where I’ve removed the membrane and the other did not remove the membrane. Because I don’t have a direct answer and I’m using the Internet there’s lots of options and I guess opinions the. Just put them in two different labeled glass jars. As for the solution, I don’t exactly remember what I did, but let’s say I used a 1/2 cup of ground egg shells, and did 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. (I really don’t remember) Let it sit for an hour and then filled with water. The water smells even the first day. Do you know how long the solution lasts? Especially since it’s only used every couple weeks. I’m thinking I need to just make smaller batches, but am curious how long the solution lasts or at least if someone has an answer for what they do. TIA

Thank you for your video. My mother used to keep a jar of eggshell water under the sink for when she would water her plants. She had such beautiful plants. Love how simple it is and Do Not be alarmed by the awful smell folks... because it smells like someone took a crap when you open the bottle, but it's the next best thing to using water from your aquarium to fertilize your plants...and plants LOVE it.

I usually just mix 1 tbsp white vinegar with 1 tbsp of ground eggshells in 1 gallon water. After letting it sit an hour, The water soluble parts of the calcium in the egg neutralize the acids in the vinegar. Very good formula for plants.
@MrAsherati3 жыл бұрын
The vinegar is needed to get the calcium out of the egg shell. I’m not sure how much calcium is gained from just mixing egg shells in water

Add Vinegar/lemon to your crushed eggshells in a bowl and let it bubble out then add to water for BEST results! Eggshells are not water soluble so you must first add the vinegar/lemon to create the reaction that releases most of the calcium then dilute with water!!! Her ratio of eggshells to gallon are spot on and oh yeah add 1 tbls of eggshells for 1 tbls of vinegar/lemon!!!👌👍😁😁

Do you rinse the egg shells after you add lemon and vinegar?
@bennybenz.3 жыл бұрын
@@Janaerockwell No no no...! Just crush them up in a bag or bowl or a food processor to mince or chop them up "fine" then just add, "I like to use white vinegar and when you add it, it will start to bubble which is what creates the reaction that releases alot or most of the calcium in the eggshells. Then just mix that bowl of eggshells(after it's done bubbling) with the appropriate amount of water and presto!!! Hope that helps!

Those instructions are just wrong. The eggshells, and particularly the calcium, don't just dissolve in water immediately. They basically contribute no nutrients this way.

Weak method! How long do you think that calcium n stuff takes to become dissolved into that water? Looooooooooooong time. You need to make the calcium and nutrients more available into the water. Just expect water and egg shells to do the trick.
@annabeejones51474 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing I was wondering if I was supposed to rinse the stuff out of the shelves or not… I did not rinse it but now I know I don’t need to thanks to you!! How long do u keep that jug of shell water?… What I had done was put the egg shells in an open bowl on the counter but of course after a week or so it starts smelling pretty bad so I didn’t know if it was still good for the plants or not and I poured it out… Please advise🙏🤩💕... also what kind of plants do you use your eggshell water in? I used to soak seeds & to and water my seedlings ..I’m not sure if that’s why my snow peas have grown so fast in one week they’re already kinda root bound the Styrofoam cups I planted them in about 10 days ago-

I'm new at this, but I heard you can also add some white vinegar.
@bennybenz.3 жыл бұрын
Yes I didnt want to act like a dick and leave any bad or discouraging comments to this Wonderful woman, BUT, YES you are supposed to add white vinegar or lemon to your (already) crushed eggshells which cause the chemical reaction that releases all the calcium because they are not water soluble and if you just top dress with it, it takes forever to breakdown and be available for food for your plants! 👍👌 So yes please add either lemon/vinegar and let it bubble till it done bubbling then dilute with water!!!😁😁😁
