Please read: THIS WORKED PERFECTLY ON MY SWITCH OLED! Thank you so much. That wiggling was driving my nuts. I ordered and returned 3 different new switches and they ALL had this exact same problem. Always on the left joycon and never the right one. So if you are having a problem with your switch left joycon wiggling just know YOUR SWITCH IS FINE. They are just made this way for some reason

This is frustrating for sure. I bought two switch OLEDs last November -- the TotK SE for myself and the S/V SE for my SO -- and hers has no wiggle problem at all whereas mine is very annoying (tbf I have put a lot more hours into mine and I don't know if I really noticed the wiggle so much in the first week or so). I also recently bought us each a Zengrip Ronin from satisfye thinking that would at the very least ease concern for my issue but I still notice a slight wiggle on the left side. Going to have to give this a shot.

oh thankgod, I just got a switch oled for my boyfriend as a gift and noticed the wiggle on both joycons, and im not a gamer and haven’t used a switch ever before, so thought the shop sold a faulty product, I was really nervous

This tape method really worked for me, always felt uncomfortable playing my switch and having the joycons feel loose as, they were wobbly as hell when connected to the switch and now it’s comfortable to play!

Thanks for this, you just saved me some money because I've been having this issue for a while and I thought the problem were the locks in the joycons so I orderer a kit with metal locks and replaced the plastic ones that come from factory with the metal ones. That made a small diference, it was harder for the joycons to come loose/disconnect when in handheld however it still happened from time to time and it just frustrated me. I was just about to order a new set of rails for the switch and replace those to try and fix this wiggle issue once and for all (if the issue wasn't the joycons it could only be the rails, at least that was what I thought), and I stumbled upon your video. It's amazing what a couple of pieces of electrical tape can make, issue solved and I can enjoy playing on handheld without the constant anxiety of the joycons disconnecting because of the wiggle.

ALTERNATIVE IDEA: Put 1 piece of electrical tape on the Switch console. Put the other piece of electrical tape on the joycon.

Wont the eletrical tape damage it tho you know youre pulling them apart

it's stupid from Nintendo that's the joycons withdraw upwards, it's have more sense to remove them downward to prevent the console do not come off from your hands

Wow, thank you sooooo much. Worked like a charm! I just got my switch oled since a week and the joycon wiggling was driving me crazy and giving me a lot of stress and anxiety. Because its a huge investment and i was worried i will have to find a way to live with it this way. I will see if i can order a grip because I have heard that will help to prevent the wiggle as well but this is working amazing in the meantime.

The problem is the joy con, not the console. I have this problem and I try another joy con and it works great. Only problem is that I have the wiggle issue on the new Zelda edition switch and it kisses me off

When it was wobbly, my right controller kept disconnecting. Did this happen for anyone else ? I am considering sending it into Nintendo. I have tried a few set of controllers and they have all behaved the same.

I have this issue on my OLED. The up down wiggle is the worse, if I use my Hyperion Joy Cons I really notice it when using the D Pad, it’s very annoying!

I had this problem really bad, but noticed that the rails were extremely wiggly. Tightening the screws that are inside the rails got rid of most of wiggle for me. I then used the tape hack on the bottom, and it's working like a charm now. Much thanks!

Guys carefully if you have the oled if you apply the tape bad you can damage the frame on the front and on the back I just did i scratched the front and the back as well when I pulled in the rail because of the tape. And is pushed either on left side or right side the controller.

It seems like this is noticeably worse with the OLED model. I’m going to have to give this fix a shot otherwise when I beat TOTK I’m going to return it and stick with my steam deck

I tried it. So far so good. Though I put the tape on the joycon itself. A different joycon fits fine so I figured if I pug it in the switch rail, there would be an affect on all the joycons for that side. Thanks.

I just got splatoon oled and it started doing this after the 3rd day playing and it is super annnoying it’s the left one that really does it , can’t wait to try this
