Why Sony didn't present anything in CES 2024 in Las Vegas? Why Sony didn't present anything from 8K? Why Sony doesn't want to prove it's supremacy over the other brands by showcasing it's stunning technologies (even the latest MINI LED)? Why Sony doesn't want to unveil the serial version of 16k TV with Micro LED technology? Why such brands like TCL or HISENSE are compared with Sony? This is the same as if Rolls Royce compared with BYD?

This 2023 display is hobbled by AndroidTV 10 which uses 1080p rather than 4k for UI elements including Pro Webapp support. Don't buy or be prepared for a blurry mess, especially with regards to text. Sony, you need to support at least AndroidTV 12 for a 4k UI and webapps. It was released in 2021 so it's not asking a lot for a late 2023 display.

That's really impressive. If someone wanted to do a touch-screen interactive kiosk setup with one of those is there a version that incorporates a touch screen or perhaps a touch screen add-on/overlay that could be added onto an existing screen?

One of the challenging scenarios that commonly comes up has to do with customers that want to set up a video wall using two, four, six or eight LCD displays. One of the biggest problems they frequently run into is the fact that their Sony remote doesn't have the ability to independently operate and switch between multiple displays on a wall. There are 3rd party solutions from companies like Universal Remote Corporation that attempt to solve this problem, but they ask customers to take on certain constraints and limitations with their products that most customers aren't willing to embrace or accept. Would it be possible going forward for Sony to develop an advanced remote control that would allow the remote to be able to independently control and easily switch among multiple Sony displays on a wall? If Sony could figure out a way to integrate this functionality into their remotes this would give them a substantial leg up on their competition, both in the corporate and retail segments.

It's really good to see that Sony understands that employees are now working in a hybrid-work scenario where a great deal of their time spent working occurs outside of a formal office setting. Companies are now starting to realize that this is going to be a permanent change, not just a temporary one. Companies are finally understanding that in order for employees to return to the office at all there needs to be an actual benefit to them for doing so, not just because an insecure boss above them told them they had to. As much as companies may not like it, that just won't cut it with employees anymore today. The most important thing that any company can do to encourage employees to work at least part of the time from an office setting is to give them the most advanced, capable and sophisticated tools possible to allow them to function at peak levels of efficiency and productivity - both in and out of a formal office setting. This will allow employees to work wherever it makes the most sense for them to be working (taking into consideration all contributing factors, not just the ones bosses and managers deem relevant) given the tasks they need to accomplish.

In the retail segment we are now starting to see many companies move towards interactive digital ordering systems (recently implemented by McDonalds with large, touch-screen LCD displays that allow customers to place orders out in the dining area with no employee interaction at all). This not only helps to put distance between the customer and the employees (something significant in a post-COVID world) but also helps the company to reduce their headcount and overhead costs by facilitating further automation of their operational workflow. As more retail companies look to automate similar to the way McDonalds has, there will likely be increased demand for both large touch-screen panels as well as AI-based voice interfaces to supplement and round out those solutions as well. Sony appears to be well positioned to be able to capitalize on this with their touch-screen enabled Bravia commercial displays. However, just like commercial customers can benefit from touch-screen displays, it's important to note here as well that retail consumers would also likely be able to benefit from the ability to interact with displays in their homes from a touch-screen interface as well. Many retail consumers are now purchasing 43" to 65" 4K TVs to use as computer monitors on their desktops. The customer that walks into a retail store to purchase a 55" X75K TV to be used as a large computer monitor on their desktop (wanting to take advantage of the RGB sub-pixel layout that makes it ideal for this type of application) would also very likely appreciate the ability to interact with that same display via touch-screen control as well. This could be for whiteboarding during video conferencing or just brainstorming new ideas with a mark-up/sketchpad type application. Are we ever going to see any of the Sony 4K TVs sold at the retail level incorporate any type of touch-screen functionality that could potentially appeal to this type of customer? Having the ability to interact with a display though a touch-based interface (at least on one model like the X75K or its soon to be released replacement, the X77L) would provide Sony with a key differentiator that would allow them to stand out from their competition in a retail sales setting and could also act as a potential bridge to additional Sony professional sales opportunities as well.
