Oh, I watched on the net and it seems that "The lion and the mouse" is "Le lion et le rat", one of the fables of Jean de la Fontaine, French writer. And the "On a souvent besoin d'un plus petit que soi" (we often need someone smaller than ourselves) is from this fable. I had forgotten that.

In France we say "On a toujours besoin d'un plus petit que soi." It's like "We always need someone smaller than us"

It's a wonderful everyone's childhood story that provides an abundance of vocabulary and Arabic phrases to learner. Your efforts of word-by-word breakdown is really amazing. I've a humble suggestion to convert the same story into comprehension style on the SECOND DAY.This will help the learners to construct and understand the sequence of a sentence.Of course, it will be motivating for ARABIC LEARNERS. SOME IDEA QUESTIONS: 1- What was the lion doing one day? 2- Where did the mouse run up? 3- What did the lion do after waking up? 4, 5, 6 etc etc. At the beginning,the answer can be in multiple choice. e.g What was the doing one day? (A)- sleeping (B)- It was eating meat. (C)- walking. Some questions may be like Fill in the blank. Choose the correct verb or adjective or word with multiple choice.e.g The lion (was sleeping), ( is sleeping), ( has slept ) one day. The learners will write their answers on their note-books. i must appreciate that you are an expert in both the languages.I.e English and Arabic. May ALLAH BLESS you and give you guidance in making the useful exercises in ARABIC.Teaching is a PROPHETIC profession and you are doing a GREAT JOB INDEED.
