Watching the late great Ron Weiner's Emmy Award winning technical direction is thrilling. Ron, like Phil, was a pioneer in the way that Daytime Television Talk Shows were shot and executed. Thanks for sharing.

I watched this that night in March 1983. Two months later the V miniseries also premiered. NBC had a lot of good stuff on in the 1980s.

Thanks for posting this. I never watched the complete interview with Redd Foxx. I loved how candid and honest he was bout race in Hollywood. The Bob Hope interview was cool. Too bad he was having MULTIPLE affairs during their marriage well into his 70s. Either Mrs. Hope was in denial, lying, had an arrangement, or just put on a good face for the cameras.

Old Chicago had the the first indoor amusement park. The roller coaster was the best! I think it was called, "The Chicago Loop". They even filmed one of my favorite movies there called The Fury. Man I miss that place and those good times in the 70's.

This is actually quite good, which only surprises me because it lasted only five episodes. It seems like it had lots of potential. I can see how the premise would leave a great deal of script possibilities if Harvey Korman's character is an actor, allowing him to step outside of his character and play other roles in the show. I'm not sure how people would react to Harvey Korman as the star, though, only because my first impressions of him as a kid was that he always came across as a jerk, though I always thought it was a marvelous antagonist. From watching this, I can see how he is about the only American actor of that period who could have played Basil Fawlty when attempts were made to adapt it to American TV. He is physically similar to John Cleese, plus has that dastardly nastiness, but at the same time the ability to be a sniveling, henpecked character. Indeed, I am not positive, but I seem to remember that he was the Fawlty character in an American pilot of Fawlty Towers that was not picked up. He really was an absolutely marvelous comedian. RIP, Harvey Korman!
