hey hey! I love your stuff!! are there any resources to understand what are you doing though? It's cool to follow you but I have no clue of what I'm doing 99% of the time... I'd love to understand it!!! Thank you so much for your vids

Hello! Fun question. First of all: To understand these processes in general, I suggest following Paketa12. Great to understand how pixels work, and how we can calculate with them. I bastardize a lot of his ideas. Otherwise Lake Hekaman, Elekktronaut, Polyhop, and Matthew Ragan have some great explanatory tutorials. If you want to understand this one in particular, I actually suggest first looking in to “instancing” And then go through it node by node to try to understand what each node is doing. (Remember that you can “view as points” to see the pixels as points in space)And if you don’t understand it, read the touchdesigner documentation on the node. But I also suggest breaking the project down to smaller parts and just playing with it to build intuition. If you want to understand the life comp, I have a new(ish) tutorial dedicated to it where I try to explain how and why it works. I’m not a great teacher and try to focus more on art direction, but I’m happy to point you to better teachers.

I cannot get past the point where the you put the slope into the displace, I've made sure I followed everything. Any tips?
@supermarketsallad3 күн бұрын
In the slope: Make sure the slope is 32 bit float rg. Red in the slope is vertical luminance. Green is horizontal. And zero point is zero. In the displace: Make sure the vertical source is red. Horizontal is green. Zero point is zero. Does that help?

when i added levels (before start and end null) only the one forth of the cube is showing, why is it happening??
@smilefenn48138 күн бұрын
im really sorry but as a beginner its quite hard to follow because you've already made something beforehand, so when i create a base comp on its own and name it life and do all those settings, having to connect it to the keyboard thing is a confusing step cus thats supposed to be like whatever project one is working on at the time... so the life base comp will have to be adjusted in relation to whatever the main project is, and it will be different every time, it is confusing to figure out how exactly to adjust it. is there any way that the life component can just be it's own video without a base project to link it to, something that can be used for all the projects and dropped into them easily?
@smilefenn48138 күн бұрын
the life component is not making the visual loop. i followed ur tutorial exactly on how to make it, i did the customise component part as well and then exported it.

3:35 whenever i do this, the noise top auto connects to the "end" null, and when i try to remove that connection, there is a red x sign on the end null and the white square in the display disappears.

Thank you! So easy to follow along and has amazing results! I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get the 'flame' elements to fade out slowly over time, so the whole system can visually reset without having to reset using the 1 key each time?

After i click with my mouse it creates something similar at clicking but then it quickly create white explosions all over and every time i click it triggers white explosions filling up the screen quickly. Any idea where i should check ? Maybe some parameters of some operator I guess?

Is it possible to get similar results with a 3D mesh designed in blender? I know blender exports PLY but I noticed that the RGB drop downs were different with the point file TOP when I tried it. So the tutorial didn't really line up fully.

Heyo ! great tutorial as always ! If you're still looking for a good way to manipulate cameras in TD, I personnally like using this add-on : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iZtidd1yzM7GnX0.html&ab_channel=FactorySettings ! I use Blender mainly and I find it way easier to animate my cameras in the 3D environment then export it's keyframes to TD, make s for great results and a perfect bridge between the two of them. Credits for @FactorySettings for creating this handy piece of code !

Hello ! I tried every type of .ply, nothings work for me i always have black screen and no point ... If someone have an idea t.t ...
@supermarketsalladАй бұрын
Then it probably isn’t a problem with the ply. A common problem is that people forget to toggle “add points” in the add SOP
@easoli47Ай бұрын
No I already do that .. I follow every step from the tutorial
@supermarketsalladАй бұрын
@easoli47 hmm. Maybe try instancing some other geometry. A box SOP for example (uniform scale 0.002) and use a constant MAT. For trouble shooting
