The gas station you mention at 11:35 is Ruby´s Gas and I call it my home. It was hard to conquer but ist was worth it cause you can power one of the houses and the station itself with only one generator, you have lot´s of food and are near to the military chekpoint for weapons. It´s fenced on two sides but you have more than enough trees aound to secure it completely

Muldraugh U-Store-it is tbh not a good base location for me, i prefer going closer to the main road to the sunstar motel, go to the left side and break the 2nd story wall above the restaurant, then just build some floors and the base is alive (If i ever change my mind U-Store-it is really close)

I thought there was something wrong with my settings but no the dark forest is really just that thick, beautiful biome but hard to play with

It's an amazing base and easy to clear. Getting there with a car is also pretty easy, you can basically avoid all of Louisville. However, the mansions shown are just a bit further West and those are cooler in my opinion, if you close them off it's a amazing for a high class murderfest. The best location for groups is still the top of appartements for me (in this scenario we do use a mod to start there), with high population it's super cool to sneak around.

We based up here with my two best friends, roleplaying as rich people who think Louisville is just being swarmed by poor people. If you just take the time to loot the military checkpoint, you can clear the area, but our favorite base location is the fenced off area a bit further west, that lake offers ample fishing opportunity and clearing out the gated community next to it is fairly easy, it also offers a ton of supplies.

That base in the red circle has pretty decent road acces once you make a pathway. It's an amazing base for long survival with both Louisville and West Point within reach. Great for survival with the lake.

2:35 I'm 99% sure this is our groups current base, we also have a car in there, a pain to get around, but amazing when you make a shooting range.

Best base I have found is the sand parking lot north west of riverside

12:45 is why I use mods like moodle quarters and minimal display bars. I don't consider it unbalanced or unfair, because there is a disconnect between the player and character. I can feel myself get tired as I work and run irl, I don't just suddenly get exhausted.

Another good option is to try to kite the groups in smaller circles when possible. Obviously be aware of where you and other Zeds are, but leading them around in a circle about as big as the average house in PZ keeps them easy to hit and prevents you from pulling in to many more. It also keeps your exits open. Loving your guides!

Is there a trick to putting a farm on the roof at that place? I tried it on a private server and the dirt would pour out of the sack but not appear on the roof...

Nobody ever talks about the fishing house a long the river in riverside. That place is hands down one of my favorite places to hunker down. There is a grocery store, a restaurant, and a gas station all within walking distance. Infinite fishing and forest for all your building and food needs. Plus there are 2 pre-built rain collector barrels in the main house itself. And if necessary you're a small drive away from the abandoned warehouse. Definitely feels like this base has been slept on by every content creator I've found so far.

Not having a weapon is better than the majority of the weapons in the game. Funny as it is watching people trying to fight 4-5 zombies with a frying pan or bread knife, you can probably kill all of them using a fence or window and your foot with very little risk in less time than you can kill 1 out of the 5 using a frying pan. I get weeks into a runs without using more than shoving and my feet. Making a game around late spring and run around looting food and killing using only shoving and stomping while utilizing windows and fences will teach you when not to use a weapon and really help you not waste durability on weapons when you don't need to.
