So is this how this was actually released?! I never owned the St. Louie To Frisco album, but I recently acquired the boxset Bear Family put out, with all Chuck's recordings on it, which mention that something got screwed up during the mastering stage, causing that weird delay between the left and right sides of the stereo image. Supposedly, the boxset, which came out in 2014 was the first time anyone had thought to actually fix this error.

I'll preface all of it by saying I'm not the biggest fan of movies... Having said that, I loved this film and was a big fan of Cassavetes......he was really genuine in his efforts to do something different and good.

It believe it was Robert himself but he didn’t recognize his own projection, a mirroring of his sister when she loses herself with the lack of love saying “I don’t know who I am”. This scene happens after his sister chooses to leave him. As a man he expresses this in the opposite way by projecting himself outwards and not recognizing himself
