This is such good advice! I got married 3 months ago and we both saved ourselves for marriage, so we had no idea of what to expect. Unfortunately in Christian community this is not a topic that is usually discussed which leads to "innocent" people looking to the wrong resources for information on their first night. We are extremely privileged to be in a church with very approachable pastors, so our pastor sat down with my husband and our pastor's wife sat with me to explain EVERYTHING which helped a lot. For me the biggest shock was to see him naked in his full, uhm, excitement for the first time. I've never seen a naked man before, so my first reaction was "Wow, that's big!" which of course was a massive confidence boost for him 😂. Advice that I received beforehand that helped a lot: - Don't force it the first night. Allow for it to happen naturally even if it takes a few days. Forcing it while being nervous will cause you unnecessary pain. There is a lot of other things to also enjoy before sex if you have been completely celibate, so there is no rush. - Warn him beforehand that it might be painful for you the first couple of times. If he is prepared for this, he will understand if you want to slow down a bit. - Get a good unscented waterbased lubricant to use - scented ones may sometimes also lead to UTI's if your body is not used to it. - Communicate!!! Let him know what works, or doesn't work for you. Also, don't fake an orgasm (get into this habit from the beginning) - though, it might be encouraging for him, it gives him the idea that you enjoy something that you really don't. If he thinks you like it, he is going to want to do it every time to please you. - Buy lingerie that you feel comfortable in! Feeling comfortable and sexy will already get you halfway there. - Lastly (like you also mentioned), try to be in the moment and ENJOY it! You will only have your first time once. I obviously still have A LOT to learn, but these things might also help someone else.
