i just don't understand why someone would use a less featureful editor? zed keeps toting speed, but really?! for a text editor running on a 4Ghz CPU, how can there possibly be any difference between two editors for speed?? nutty... thanks for showing me zed though so I know to avoid it now :) good video!

You don't want to self-host monitoring if you really don't need to. It's another thing to maintain and monitor :D Hire an external service for that.

Zed seems overhyped, no Linux/Windows support, can't use it over a SSH tunnel, very feature limited compared to VSCode, and honestly anyone considering Zed should just use Cursor or neovim
@james-perkins4 ай бұрын
What if you hate cursor or neovim? It’s supposed to be limited unlike vscode which is why’s it’s faster and less resource intensive
@mrmonday20004 ай бұрын
@@james-perkins neovim literally runs in your terminal, you can't get any more low impact than that, I tried Zed out and saw no real gain to using Cursor, and for some context, for the same project at idle Zed is taking up 2% of my CPU's resources, Cursor is 1%, and the Terminal process running tmux+neovim is using so little it shows as 0%

Dude zed is new . They just open sourced it like months ago. Development is racking up speed now. Linux and windows versions are being made and features are being added. It will also support extensions soon. As of now it’s been a pleasure using zed even with just the features it has so far. Give it time and it will mature . Zed is a game changer

As a small business owner using a free tier database in production, 30 days to migrate away or pay for a paid tier is insanely short. Not that the $39 is going to kill my business, but 30 days to make a decision of "take or leave it" feels like the opposite of what they are going for here: reliability
@unseriousdev5 ай бұрын
"As a small business..." Out of curiosity: how much data do you have? Also, I don't think they rolled out the possibility for extended support if you reach out.
@james-perkins5 ай бұрын
I think is a difficult problem to have. 30 days feels like an okay line to draw for them to state "we are ending the life" but I also sympathize with people who need to migrate as it is a short amount of time.

@james-perkins That's fair and my comment was in no way undermining their concern. 💚

Hello friend, I'm developing a part of a site that the idea is exactly that, create a status tab for the customer to follow, but seeing your video I had some doubts, how do I do in my code to recognize as it was in yours or how is your complete code so I can study and apply
@thetechnocrack5 ай бұрын
Here's some unwarranted and stupid feedback: 1. I speak as a part of the cohort of recent graduates who are searching for a job - we are generalists with little to no experience. And we are uncomfortably searching for a job because most of the industry sends an automated reject with little to no feedback even after interviews. When the industry is so unkind to you, especially when you were excited to join it, spent years studying for it, took up student debt for joining it and then get treated like a generic commodity, it is difficult to go on for months with genuine applications (especially when the other end uses AI to reject you anyways). 2. Try writing closed captions or using some website such as submagic, so that unkey is not anki as per google and in general it shows you are interested in people listening to you - you take extra efforts (like you expect job applicants to). I appreciate that you took the time to make this video! Your content is engaging! Please don't consider any of the above as spite! I am simply speaking from the other end of the application process. PS: I did try contributing to ivy (an open source ML platform) - but it didn't exactly lead anywhere and it takes way longer to do that especially when you have limited time and resources to rely on.
