Sorry but this is the most useless advice I have heard.. spending saving which should ideally be earning you profit at a percentage higher than the car loan interest is the worst thing you can do.. you would have spend a huge corpus that would increase after over time than again building up that money at a higher inflation now.. Beware of these KZfaq Gyaan gurus..

What people fail to realize is that banks are fooling us with 8-9% scam. Everything depends on the period for which you are taking loan. The longer the duration, the higher the loan and that is because of how your EMI percentage is allocated to your principal component and interest component. During the initial period of your loan, most of your EMI is used to pay the interest due to which there is very small change in your principal amount and interest is charged on your principal only. I own a second hand car for the last 2 years which I bought in full cash but due to breakdown of my father’s car, I had to plan for a new car. This time I went for a new car instead of second hand because I’m earning good enough and don’t have much liabilities. The quotation that bank gave me was 8.8% interest on 10 lacs (of course I was planning for a bigger car with around 45% downpayment). The calculated interest for 3 year period is 1,41,420 which is NOT 8.8%. It is ACTUALLY 14.14% and if I change the duration to 4 years, the interest is 1,89,929 which is 18.99% and NOT 8.8% which bank claimed. Similarly, 2,39,685 for 5 years which is 23.97%. SHOCKING, isn’t it? Get a quotation first and then see if you can make money more than the interest they are charging, then take the loan, otherwise pay with cash. Of course, if a person does not have enough money, he/she have no other choice other than taking loan but please be sensible with the amount. Peace ✌🏻

A car is a depreciating asset, and if you spend savings on buying this asset, you will lose more money long term than if you buy it with loan.. The impact of EMI will decline over long term because of inflation.. So, always go for car loan.
