Someone recommended trying to waterproof it with boiled linseed oil, which works on wood, at least. It'll be interesting to see how well the tarp works, and to see how much drag results from the folds in it.

Stop paddling water onto it. It will go down itself. Especially don't near the final plunge to allow it to go down slow since it is already going down quickly. This makes it realistic.

I love that you included the details of this old school building, especially the interior staircase and bell tower. The plastic covering the window openings was also a neat touch! The fact that this is an historic re-ennactment of an actual event in 1919 makes it much more significant. Note to viewers: We had the permission of our local fire and police to burn this, and they were aware of the time and place at which it was set afire.
