I always recommend that someone contact the local sheriffs department or look at the county crime map near the areas they are interested in moving to. As a Realtor, crime is a topic we are prohibited from discussing due to licensing law. Crime can be a little subjective due to someone’s life experiences, expectations, etc.

I think you are trolling, but to address your comments, I have never purchased traffic or reviews. If you look through our reviews, you can clearly tell they are real. The vast majority of our clients have left multiple reviews with other local businesses, we have a few that are even local guides in our area on Google. The reviews have also been left over several years. We did get a small spike in reviews recently by asking our clients to give us a review, and thankfully they did. As far as views and comments and all of that. This channel is run as an information channel to help them in their relocation process to Greenville, SC. Thank you for sharing your perspective. I’m far from an expert on South Carolina’s tax strategy, but I understand your concerns. My thought process is that the state aims to lower the tax burden for those in challenging situations and those who are retiring. Regarding business strategy, South Carolina has a corporate tax rate of 5%, which places it in the lower third of the country, making it a relatively tax-friendly state for businesses. One area where the state compensates for lower taxable income figures is through higher taxes on non-primary residence properties, where taxes can almost triple compared to primary residences. This creates a heavier tax burden on vacation and investment properties. Overall, South Carolina strives to balance being tax-friendly to its residents while ensuring sufficient revenue to fund essential services.

@@livingingreenvillesc2899 Looking at it through this perspective is reasonable, and though I think it's quite imperfect, it does seem fair when explained that way, so I appreciate you sharing it. With this tax-friendliness, I hope SC becomes all the more tax-friendly to young inventors, young families/parents, and people moving the state in a good direction that results in more investment, jobs, and economic activity. But not _too_ tqx-friendly so as to result in overpour of people flocking in from around the nation...which is evidently happening already.

Travelers Rest is definitely a place that a lot of people would like to move to. At this point, there has not been enough building in the area to create an overcrowding effect. The city has limited its growth intentionally in a lot of ways to preserve its uniqueness. Saying that, I don’t have a crystal ball to look into the future. I think it would take some time to really build the area up though to have an overcrowded feeling. Greer and Taylors are also great places to live. Thank you for tuning in!

I am glad you enjoyed the video! As far as receiving more in property taxes, SC is one of the lowest property tax states in the country. I have read that from a percentage of value SC is ranked #5, but 3 of the 4 states ranked above SC have considerably higher property values. Due to that and the rise of costs with everything, I’d doubt it’s made much of a positive impact on the overall budget. The county also hasn’t seen the biggest impact of the value increases since taxes are reassessed every 5 years (or after the sale of a property) and they were last reassessed in 2020.

If this is your first visit to the area, I generally recommend that people stay in Greenville. That is where you'll find the vast majority of our hotels. I also think staying downtown, while more expensive, is a great idea to truly appreciate the area and walk to the majority of the local hot spots.

That's an interesting comment. Greenville has been one of the top population percentage gainers over the past few years and has had very little movement of people leaving the area. I agree that we will need to see infrastructure improvement to keep up with the growing population, and the city/county agrees as well. They are working on a one billion dollar project to improve the infrastructure throughout the entire county.

It does not. Atlanta and Charlotte are both around 2 hours away, and that is where you’d want to go for international flights.

Sharon, first I know inflation has hit everyone hard. I’m sorry that your weekly/monthly expenses have gone up so much. I did want to acknowledge the first part of your comment though, I never said anything different as far as not getting taxed on your income or the assessed value of your home. I talked about the mechanics of paying taxes in SC and the percentages according to a study that was done.

The unemployment rate is below the national average in Greenville, and we have new businesses moving to our area, so there are employment opportunities here.

I recently took a trip to Greenville based on the KZfaq videos and the hype. I was not impressed. This city's biggest attraction is a long walking and biking trail. The grocery stores are limited ( 1 Costco, 1 Whole Foods, etc.) There are 2 main avenues, Woodruff and Haywood. I was told these streets were filled with amazing shopping opportunities, they were not. There were a couple of strip malls with the usual (TJ Maxx, Ulta, etc). If you did not travel these two main avenues or use I-85 you use back streets that are 1 lane in each direction with no street lights. Greenville is basically Mayberry with a few modern updates. They say the cost of living is cheaper, but when you compare what it has to offer I disagree. There is nothing to do outside of hiking, walking and biking, yet I just visited an apartment complex that was charging $2100 for a 3 bdrm and they said they had lowered prices due to a large amount of available 3 bedrooms. I did not look for a job, but I just can't see employers in this one horse town paying well. Personally, I think there are better opportunities and options elsewhere. Greenville may one day live up to the hype (30 years from now), but for now all it is, is hype.

Of course, Greenville is not a fit for everyone, and it sounds like it just was not the place for you. Every perspective is completely valid, and we all have different criteria for what we are looking for whenever we decide on the city we'd like to live in. Greenville is known for being an active city, so those who enjoy being outdoors, going to local and state parks, walking/biking trails, and hiking tend to really love Greenville. Beyond that, a couple of things I wanted to point out is that Greenville has another major interstate system, which is I-385. You are correct that a lot of Woodruff Road and Haywood are mostly large national retailers, but areas like Augusta Rd, Downtown Travelers Rest, and Downtown Greenville, to name a few, have several local places to shop. I find that a lot of people really love the arts scene in Greenville. I have a client who moved to the area who was a corporate executive who lived in NY, ATL, LA, Miami, and other large metro areas who said that the performances she's seen at the Peace Center are some of the best she's ever seen. We do not have any professional teams; but we have a minor league Men's and Woman's Soccer, Baseball, and Hockey teams. There are several colleges nearby that offer college sports as well. The culinary scene is very well thought of for the city's population size. It's funny that you mentioned grocery stores, as people actually tend to tell me that we have one on every corner here. Some of the larger grocery stores in the area are Publix, Harris Teeter, and Ingles. A second Whole Foods is currently being built in downtown Greenville, and a lot of people will shop at Swamp Rabbit Cafe, Earth Fare, Sprouts, and Lowes Food for a similar experience (this list includes those that either have similar food standards or store ambiance) as a Whole Foods or Trader Joes if they do not live close to one of those grocery stores. Speaking to jobs, there are over 20 Fortune 500 companies that have a presence in Greenville, so there are certainly job opportunities and well-paying opportunities depending on a person's occupation. Lastly, Greenville is more affordable than the national average overall, but there are certainly highly desirable areas that command higher prices that can exceed the national average.
