Quick correction on your recruitment section as it's not quite right: In the 1st game, if you or the recruited pokemon fainted, then that was it its gone for good. There was also a limit on how many recruitment's you could do in a dungeon, so if your team has 4 pokemon, you can not recruit anymore in that session. I'm not sure about explorers of time and darkness, but in sky once you've made a successful recruitment, that's it its considered 100% recruited. Even if you or the recruitment faints in a dungeon you will still keep them, they will just be considered dismissed until you visit the chimecho assembly. You can also choose to send home new recruits during a dungeon as well.

This game defined my childhood and is a masterpiece. The only flaw in my eyes is that some moves are straight up broken

In some aspects some of the homunculus were tragic creatures who just needed guidance,if they had someone to guide them and teach them how to be what they wanted to be most,human, they could have had a good existence with the people around them.
