I don’t say this with any judgement, only as kind suggestion. Learn how strengthen vocabulary by removing filler words such as “like” and “you know” or “I think”. These often come across as weak and scattered. I wish this young woman the best no matter. Our society definitely needs great dog trainers, behaviorist, etc.!

Question on markers. My pup is 9 months old. As far as markers go we have used the clicker as a terminal marker, i have also used “yes” and more recently i have been saying “good” i do not have a continuation marker and thus my dog will break any command in which i need to mark the behavior without releasing her upon using any marker. I watched your video on teaching the markers and i would like to switch to the “yes” and “free” markers. I realize i have already been a bit inconsistent and I am wondering if switching my commands now would be too confusing for the dog by switching the meaning of yes to a continuation when in the past it was a terminal marker. I am very disciplined in my methods but am still learning. I intend to become professional and i want to implement your marker system permanently and stay consistent not only with my current pup but with dogs i work in the future. Thanks

Best way to start being and informal trainer. No car, no money, one dog that’s partly obedient to use. She is smart and learns quickly. Almost 10 I nov

What do you do when you been in the room with them and go out and back in but don't want him in. Or if you let them go in then they go out but then come back in do you let them or do they need permission each time if that makes sense. Say if I'm in the front room and I let them go out in the hallway then he comes back in do I only let them in when I say or is it OK to let them just come in. I'm unsure how to do that.

Your dog knows how to do every trick you want it to do. You just need to glorify that behavior and add a word to associate it with that behavior.

NATE SCHOENER... i cant thank you enough. I am disabled and on disability. I rescued an amazing american bully.(sal) I couldnt afford to have him professionally trained. It was impossible to find reasonably priced training course that covered everything i needed to know. I tried my best but fell very short of training sal even the basic commands. I really loved him and needed him for a service dog. He kept escaping my control while training. He escaped while at the park trying to off leash train him. He was hit by an suv with me just a few ft away. It devestated me and will forever. This weekend im going to be getting another dog. I had questioned whether i was ready bc i still had no solution to proper training for my new friend. You are the miracle i needed!! I am amazed that you dont charge for this very detailed info.. i will always be grateful for your help. Ypu have no idea how badly i need a dog that is obident enough for a service animal and still able to be my best friend. Im physically and emotionally broken. The only solution is the unconditional love of a dog.. you literally saved my life bc i was about to end it.. thank you so very much. God bless you

I have been training a 10 month old Cavalier King Charles; she is very friendly I am a little concerned about getting her through this training and passing this test....I am grateful you have covered all of these 10 tests so I can continue to reinforce her progress. Your teachings and suggestions have been very helpful!

thank you for this raw uncut video. I learn more from these than the "Five things you should do to crate train your pup!" i like to see the frustrations that come with the training instead of the clean cut version that shows you everything going correctly. Also, you have amazing patience

My Boston/chihuahua gets in the water and starts paddling. Her rear end slowly goes down and she ends up practically on her back while paddling. I fear she would drown if not in her life jacket.

I only have one question, how do you train them to get their nails trimmed? My 8 month old Rottweiler was fine getting them done at the vet since i got her at 6 weeks old, apparently the last time they hurt her and its a fight to the death now,( greatly exaggerated) but im sure you know what i mean. She is super sweet and it kills me that she was hurt, but how do i get this done now? Please? A video would be amazing and greatly appreciated 😢
@NateSchoemer5 күн бұрын
That's a great question. Given your dog's negative experience with nail trimming, she's now showing fear-based behavior, similar to PTSD. To address this, I recommend counterconditioning and desensitization. Start by exposing her to the nail trimming process at a level she can handle, pairing it with something pleasant like treats. Gradually increase exposure as she becomes more comfortable, again pairing it with something she enjoys. This process can take weeks or months. Alternatively, I trim my dogs' nails through exercise. Frequent runs on trails naturally keep their nails short. It's easier and more enjoyable for them. I hope this helps, and thank you for your support!
