There is no one "2000s look". In 2005, when this camcorder was from, there were camcorders in a plethora of formats, including VHS-C, Super VHS-C, Hi8, Digital8, MiniDV, HDV, DVD, hard drive, MicroDrive, and SD cards, in standard definition 4:3, standard-def 16:9, progressive scan, 720p HD, and 1080i HD.

Though to be fair DVD camcorders were definitely the most popular at that time (or atleast that was the case in my country) We skipped VHS and went from laserdisc & videoCD to eventually DVD, so there was 0 appeal for VHS-C camcorders VHS rot very quickly in southeast asia and discs proved a lot more reliable for rental owners. Some later tapes promimently featured anti fungus written in big bold letters but they still rot...

Its fake pana :) Not 16:9 exactly. the film size is 24mm x 36mm but the "black bar" is covered by these black blades which blocks the top and the bottom frame (not exposing them) and so you fet this pana look (but its not really)

Can you confirm if it's true that one needs to wait for about 5 seconds after turning on this camera, which are spent on "warming up" the disk, and also after finishing recording, one needs to wait as well? @@DannyFeng

Actually I didnt used any filter (other than an ND filter) for this film. The softness I added in post. There was a specific softness I was looking for and my BPM 1/4 or 1/8 was not going give that so I had to adjust in post :)

This technique is a quick and dirty methods and so situations like this is quite common. I'd suggest you mask the area and use another halation layer just on that area

I agree, and sony A7iv is a phenomenal camera for what it is. I own one. And I own a fuji xh2 8k internal high quality prores recording monster. I do professional commercial work for companies with video and photography, and private work for clients as well. I've also made a number of short films, and a feature film. Sony is fantastic. But there are other companies offering higher resolution at the same or even lower prices. So... it really depends what people need. And for people who say... no one needs 6k or 8k... those people need to remember that just a few years ago people said the same about 4k. And if this is still someone's sole camera a few years from now, or becomes their b cam... it's just not future proofed in terms of resolution. But for content creation, KZfaq, web based commercials (which is part of my job), sony a7iv is absolutely fantastic. For My proof of concept to get funding for my next feature film, however... I went with 8k. But I love both cameras for professional work.

Hi there, I've also been using Cine V. Now, I notice you use film convert nitrate. I just downloaded the demo version of that, and whilst the panasonic GH5s camera pack is available so the footage can be best matched, the Cine V profile is not on the subsequent drop down menu. What do you choose from this secondary menu to match to Cine V? Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

Because you can get perfect halation with PP. You can get a DIY version of it. Use Resolve instead. So much better.

There are many overlays online you can add over the video to make it look “old”. You can also blur the videos to make it less sharp. You can also use like a diffusion filter on the lens to soften the image too

Just get a "hybrid" camcorder such as the dvd610 which can also record to memory stick Then you can simply move the file using a usb adapter. Some also has a mini USB port for file transfer, mine can only take photos with the memory card but I can copy video through the USB port.

Great video Danny. The x100v is an awesome everyday camera. Do you use a filter on the x100v? You photos have a dreamy look to it. So i was curious to which filter you use.

Thanks! Actually you are right, for those specific photos I've used a BPM 1/4. Normally the only filter I use is a UV filter to protect the lens.

Anamorphic lenses do not stretch the image, as you say. On the contrary, they squeeze it and the stretching is done in post :)

You need a dvd player first, Then you need to get an app that can get videos off the dvd, I think I used an app called handbrake.
