I've had my Dyson Airwrap for 3 years and last year it randomly just stopped producing heat. I was going to have to take it over 2 hours away to a store to get it fixed. I came across this video, went to the website, and immediately ordered this! From the amount of gas and the price of repairing the Airwrap, I'd rather spend my money on this bad boy LOL. I bought the limited edition black diamond. It has yet to arrive, but with all the promos going on right now, I was able to snag it for $270 instead of $370 (after taxes)!

HI LADIES, CONCERNEd MAN HERE WITH QUESTIONS : i recently have long hair the length of a women, i started getting this and thought i was balding cuz i would see a line in the back where it parts where i could see my scalp i thought i was balding even tho myu hairs thick the rest of my head and cant see any lines, so this is normal for long haoir? its a cowlick?
@ashleyhopehairplay
@ashleyhopehairplay 2 ай бұрын
Hi friend! Don’t worry! It’s just a cowlick 🌀… cowlicks are a group of hairs that grow in a swirl pattern. The swirl+gravity+where it is on your head determines how much it interferes with the way you want to wear your hair. Cowlicks can be temporarily controlled and styled so they don’t separate as much like in this video. However, whenever u sweat a lot, it rains, or it’s just time to wash again, wetting the hair will make the cowlick return. So this is just a temporary fix if your cowlick really bothers you. You can also use a root touch up powder or spray to color in the scalp where the cowlick splits if you don’t want to get into a whole blow drying routine. That will help you camouflage it and not draw attention to it especially if you have dark hair and lighter skin. Hope this helps❗️💜🫶🏽🥰

Oh my goodness I cannot tell you how thankful I am for this video. My hairstylist told me the only thing I can do about a cowlick is to try doing a Brazilian blowout treatment on that area. I am going to try this right now. I am going to a wedding today and I am so self conscious. I wanted to wear my hair down at church last week and I was that annoying girl who keeps brushing her hair to the side every 5 minutes because I was embarrassed that someone behind would see it. It will stay until it gets wet again (rain, sweat, shower) … also when you’re showering under the shower cap, while applying make-up and sleeping it’s best to keep the hair clipped or under a headband keeping it flat in the direction you first blow dried it so as not to encourage the cowlick to come back in humid situations if u can help it and as long as you have a water bottle you can always use the technique to re-blow dry if it comes back before you’re ready to shampoo again 🎀🫶🏽

The cowlick comes back when I sweat 😭what do I do
@ashleyhopehairplay
@ashleyhopehairplay 3 ай бұрын
Yes that’s 💯natural. The hydrogen bonds in the hair hold it in its shape. Water breaks those bonds and they re-form again when dry. What can help , if you don’t want to re-blowdry is either putting your pony in on the side and re-directing that hair or maybe clipping it opposite the way the cowlick splits goes (not in the direction your wear it) while you’re sweating and keep the clip in until you’re no longer sweaty. When you take your hair down and brush it should be better 🫶🏽

I have struggled and fought with my cowlick at the crown of my head without success-and even used to do hair back in the 80’s and no one ever showed me this simple, effective method to disappear that ugly, bald-looking cowlick! Not even my current stylist who I’ve gone to for 6 years now-she always does an impeccable cut and color and I generally like the way she styles my hair yet that damn cowlick is still there! I can’t wait to see her next and share this with her! One of those techniques that you’d think EVERYONE would know and share-TY for enlightening those of us like myself who’ve all but given up hiding our crown cowlicks! I have really fine hair. I’m going to try this!!! But I do like a bit of volume in my hair… wouldn’t this make my hair really flat?
@ashleyhopehairplay
@ashleyhopehairplay 4 ай бұрын
So in short yes… but then you can add volume later once the cowlick is gone. If you give volume first, chances are you are encouraging the cowlick to pop up . So I like to knock the cowlick out first then add volume with a roller or a little tease after.. a bit of teasing could actually help you lock the cowlick in the direction you want and prevent it from splitting and popping up later. Or without rollers or teasing, you can pick up the sections you want to add volume to with a round brush but be careful to keep in going in the new direction you want. Let me know if you try- I hope it’s helpful! 🫶🏽💕

Can you comment on the effectiveness of your technique with very fine hair? My hair has become SO fine and it’s made my already severe cowlick a million times worse, and so much more obvious. I remember when I was young my mom was in a CONSTANT battle with this same thing which I now know I inherited from her. She is no longer with us I wish I could tell her about my struggles with this she would sure get a kick out of that fact 😂
@ashleyhopehairplay
@ashleyhopehairplay 4 ай бұрын
I’m so sorry for your loss, but happy your mom would get a kick out of this bond we share! 🫶🏽 I myself have extremely fine, thin hair I wear extensions and cover my scalp with root touch up powder. I’ve been doing hair for 20+ years and am actively seeing clients at my studio who have all kinds of varying textures, degrees of thinning and thickness, and stubborn cowlicks in numerous places on their heads. This technique works on every cowlick, on every texture. Every single time. I vouch for it. I rely on it daily. I teach it to my guests. And whenever I try something different it’s always a problem, and then I have to wet it down and start over with this technique. Now, I will say fine hair can be trickier to work with bc it dries so fast. So my advice to you my friend, is to make sure you work on the lowest air flow setting so you have the most working time. (Highest temperature, lowest setting) Comb the hair opposite the way the cowlick splits as soon as you get out of the shower. And even still i would spray it with a water bottle right before I started drying it. But Dont even wrap it up in a towel . Then sooner rather than later get to blow drying using this technique. Dont wait a long time before drying . The closer the bristles on your comb and brush are together will determine your grip on the hair. Use whatever you have that gives you the best grip on the hair. Most densely packed bristles. And actually pull it in the opposite direction that it wants to go in when you start blow drying and hold it down so it can’t pop up. ( I will make a video for you this just gave me an idea 💡). Without moving your brush, lower the air onto the cowlick and then away so you can dry it while controlling it the entire time but not burning your scalp. Then once the roots look dry wrap dry back and forth to blend that section with the rest of the hair. And final pass in the direction you want to wear it. I hope this is helpful. 💕Keep an eye out for this next video it will be for you. 🎥 “tame your severe cowlicks”

Putting a wet piece in with the dry section defeats the work you just did. One section at a time, if you want to take longer, or Al of it and in concert will give the same result from front to back.
@kingof12ave

This is not a flat brush. It's a wet to dry brush. And a back and forth motion is more efficient. Take out the step of doing it one at a time. One fluid motion. If you can get the roots straight, the ends will follow suit. If you see an imperfection, then the root isn't straight and use high speed and heat!

If you want straight hair, no point in wetting it down. In fact it can be done with a paddle brush, or a denman. Wet hair won't start doing what you want until it's about 70% dry. Paddle brush is essential.

Hi Roxanne! So glad u found my video also. I am using the HD440BK model (amzn.to/42IMpCi) in my videos. And I think it’s amazing! However I think for most people looking to replace their standard blow dryer and be able to curl their hair, I think the hd435 model (amzn.to/3SJ4g7A) has all the attachments you need to style and curl your hair. The diffuser, air-wrap attachments, concentrator and oval brush are included in that one and those are the most important to me. The flat brush attachment included in the 440BK doesn’t feel necessary to me because you get a better grip on the hair with the oval brush. I hope this helps! 🤗💕
