nice video. just one thing, many espresso calibration videos talk about 20-30s extraction time. In your video, you also mentioned similarly first drip happens around 10s, then completing the full yield around 20 or so seconds. Question is, like you mentioned, ristretto is getting its popularity, 18g in 18g out, say the first drip around 10s, completing around 20+ seconds; however many videos never mention what if you want to calibrate for a typical 1:2 espresso? Should I coarsen the grind to similarly get first drip around 10s, completing a 18g in 36g out within 30 seconds?
@lamarsacoffee4 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching! You may try to get 36ml out within 30 seconds, but if it doesn't taste good, you can try to increase the extraction time to more than 30 seconds. Achieving extraction time within 30 seconds is not compulsory but merely a commonly agreed guideline. Just remember, going finer will increase the extraction time, and vice versa. Hope that helps! 😄

How you control the espresso shot.Is it pre set up? 30’second , or 25 second

It's a manual espresso machine, so you have to start and stop your shot manually.

Awesome Video! :) How fast does the steaming recoup between steaming session? Do you have to wait in between steam to build pressure back up (would it work with back to back steaming?... like steaming 200ml milk every 45 sec to 1 min).

The Bicocca boasts a double boiler system with the grouphead equipped with a thermoblock for optimal thermal consistency. Steaming and brewing back to back should not be a problem at all 😄

The display at the top should be angled. I wish the design team put a little more thought into it's usability for shorter and mid-height people. Otherwise it's primarily 'form over function', something many an Italian designer has known to be guilty of, in the past. Also, not a flagship. Rocket flagship machine is still R Nine One, that one is still untouchable IMO.

Own a Pico. It’s a great grinder. Immaculate build quality, among other things. Those rocker switches are the worst part about it. They are just buttons.. that happen to be more painful to use than normal buttons.

I would like a burr grinder for a purpose other than grinding coffee. Grinding tough woody botanicals to make teas. What grinder type would allow for a much coarser grind with the grind pieces having a diameter closer to 3-5 mm?

The only and main reason I skipped on this machine and went with another from different maker. My height simply doesn't allow me to use this machine comfortably on my kitchen countertop. The top display should have been angled.

Nice video. Please consider doing a comparison between the Micra and Mini. I'm trying to decide between the Mini, Micra, Lelit Bianca, or Rocket R58. All are great machines and have their pros and cons. The ultimate video would be comparing all of these! Ha ha. I would hard plumb whichever machine I eventually get. I'm upgrading from the Gaggia Classic Pro.😊

Yep. For a hopper-style, small-cone-burr grinder for the home market in 2024. Listen, if people want it, they want it. I’m happy if they’re happy. But this grinder doesn’t fit what I perceive to be the mid-high level home market now.
@harzritz4382 ай бұрын
Its a sette with better internal and body.even the burr size is identical,not sure about the geometry..the burr is made by etzinger..maybe can do a blind taste test and see..there is possibility even the lagom mini can produce a better espresso,albeit with slower grinding speed..i guess this is made for commercial use rather than home use to make sense..

This is a great video! Thanks for the information. I definitely have the money for a dual boiler but I’m not one to waste it. I LOVE coffee and currently use a moka pot. My moms breville machine makes the best espresso I’ve had at home. I’m thinking of getting a dual boiler for my house since I now know that I definitely want espresso every morning. How temperature stable is the Bicocca, compared to a LM Mini?
@lamarsacoffee2 ай бұрын
We haven't put them head to head, but both machines have excellent thermal stability. The LM Mini is a double boiler with an integrated group head (brew boiler is right above the group) while the Bicocca is also a double boiler but features a cartridge in the group to maintain temperature. Hope that helps!

How does it compare to the LM Micra? (i.e. which one should you get?)
@lamarsacoffee2 ай бұрын
The Rocket Bicocca has double the brew boiler capacity than the LM Micra. If it is purely for home use, the LM Micra is more than enough to do the job, while the Rocket Bicocca is perfect for both home and also commercial setting.

Can the OPV on the top of the Profitec GO be adjust as I run the machine to mimic pressure profiling? Maybe I can buy a nob to replace that screw on top.
@lamarsacoffee2 ай бұрын
We have yet to try that 😅 the OPV was not marketed to be adjusted on the fly while brewing. We recommend to use a blind basket and set your desired pressure before brewing.
@hiimhews80262 ай бұрын
@@lamarsacoffee I did some research and people said Profitec don't recommend doing that. However if you open the steam valve you can lower the pressure which can do preinfusion and pressure profiling. If that is really possible then I don't see any reason not to buy it 😁

I wish I got the Stone espresso machine instead of the Profitec GO because I started making more milk drinks and I really don't think changing temperature between like 87c and 94c makes that much of a difference. Apparently the Stone is set at 94c which is what I keep the GO on all the time anyways. Big regret there but oh well. Basically, if you like making even a single milk drink daily, then I recommend not getting the GO. Only if you make a milk drink a few times per week or something. Waiting and purging gets annoying quicker than you think.
