This is much more dangerous than simply free markets that were inherently corrupt long before surveillance capitalism. Society needs ethics more than laws.

I, for one cannot understand how most would not know that personalization means data collection/surveillance. Good lord what are people thinking????? It might help to differentiate what platforms. For instance I accept youtube/google tracking what I watch for my algorithm. Almost everything else I do not prefer it. I would prefer news and other things to be universal instead of individualized. But when single companies control so many different feeds it's all a wash.

What makes me upset is that these companies made us into products and are making billions out of us ... do any of us get a paycheck from them for our data? No we don't, which is bizarre. If they are extracting our data every single person to whom they do that should receive a compensation in a form of a regular living wage monthly or weekly paycheck or be able to opt out this completely.

I genuinely don't think it's possible to stop what they are doing, it's too late. That first 20 years was the key time. Obama administration gave them a green light and there is still no data privacy law in US. Most people are unaware and also have general lack of intelligence. She is brilliant but only the few understand what she is talking about.
