This tool needs work to be functional. A. raise the height of grind, it's too blunt. B. The handle is too thick, round, and smooth, it needs work, it is difficult to control. ....... After plenty of hours hand reconfiguring the blade, it is razor sharp at the belly and narrow convex in the "chopping" zone. I had too remove quite a bit of steel to make it sharp due to the blunt convex they give. The handle took time as well....but my final result I'm very well pleased. In total I removed 6 oz and made it more weight forward for efficiency. It can do everything from whittling to chopping. ...... With work....great tool, my "go to" Without work.....not efficient...

I used a mild scouring pad { none scratching} that I keep just for my outdoor pots. The one I'm using here has cleaned many of my pots. Just bought the 11 foot hammock, under quilt, and tarp, and cover, ( have a quilt all ready to use on me ) just waiting for it in mail next week. Rather excited, going be my late fall hunting camp gear. I have high hopes for this setup. Keep the foot end sightly higher then head end. It definitely helps you hit the sweet spot laying down better. I like mine about 16 inchs off the ground, then i can use it as a seat for those long nights sitting around reading.

My final harvest, looked good! BUT. when it was time to peel the cloves for dehydrating I loss another %60 of the cloves almost everything was infested with the larva as well. I also lost all my onions and chives as well. I was very disappointed to say the lease. I didn't plant any chives, onions or garlic this year, I may not plant them for the next 5 years now. Savers BTK doesn't work what so ever. This parasite lives inside the stock and bulb of the plant therefore spraying the outside of the plant has no effect on the larva feeding / life cycle within the safety of the plant. Savers BTK only works on parasites that feed on the outer parts of a plant {leaves, flower etc.} like mites, ants and caterpillars as an example.

I thought that I did OK with 22 pounds, but, when it was time to peel, freeze and or dehydrate them I lost another 12 pounds to the larva. We inspected each clove and each one that had a small black pin hole in them had a larva in them. Some bulbs had two or three cloves in them that were completely gone except for the peel. I lost all my chives, Leeks and onions, a great loss. They were not even growing in the same garden bed, but, growing about 35 feet away in another bed. For me it was educational. I would not recommend keeping any, nor replanting any bulbs once the lava was sighted in your garden.

I liked the video and didn't think too long winded. I thinking explaining things clearly is great, especially if a novice is watching. I have two suggestions that will maybe save time and also boost efficiency. I recommend using 2 padded that will be sandwiched together rather than one pad with a pocket. First step is place a dry pad on wax papper or whatever surface you prefer. Second, add some inexpensivs pine pet bedding on the center of the dry pad but not completely covering the dry pad. Third step is sloak one pad completely in the Vaseline / wax mixture and lay on top of the dry pad. Then pat down on the pad to "seal" the edges with a popsicle stick to keep the pine pet bedding in between the two bads. It doesn't need to seal perfectly. Let everything dry and test before continuing. Sandwiching the pine in between the 2 pads will save time instead trying to delicately putting the pine in small pockets. Also having one dry pay and one soaked pad sandwiched together will give to bonus of using the dry pad's fibers to help catch eparks more easily while still having the opposite soaked side to use if necessary. The second suggestion is to add a small ratio of liquid parafin lamp oil to the mixture to boost the mixture OR you can soak the pine bedding in the liquid paraffin before doing step #2. The paraffin will boost the pine bedding.
@danielcharbonneau222
@danielcharbonneau222 Ай бұрын
Two excellent ideas for sure. I never thought of the pine pet bedding, I like it. The liquid parafin lamp oil was one idea that a subscriber mentioned to me in another video a while back, I'll be trying that as well. Double pads will make things go a little quicker, thanks! I do know I can get long winded, its just me. LOL thanks for dropping by.

Thank you for posting this, Daniel. A friend up visiting us in NW Maine just alerted me of a leek moth infestation in my once beautiful garlic bed. Ugh! I have grown gorgeous garlic for years and have never had this problem where I lived in Vermont (new to Maine 3 years ago). I will also mention I found very little on leek moth in the myriad of gardening books I have here, so I think it's a relatively new pest. I even learned online where it was first discovered in the state of Maine in remote wilderness location where I live! So now I am headed outside to do as you suggest. A few questions for you: What about spraying w BT after the stalks are cut down? What about covering the whole bed with row cover after I cut them down? And finally, what about next year's seed garlic? Do I need to buy certified and expensive! seed garlic? I see others commenting about what a buggy year it is; I concur! Even my nettle patch was being decimated with back caterpillars! BT and diatomacious earth took care of that, but that's another story for another time. Thanks again and I look forward to a response when you get a chance.

Little jealous. I’ve got straps, belts, and sustainment pouches in woodland for modifying my woodland Alice Pack. The odds and ends pouches are pretty obtainable, but the rucksack and frame are unicorns. As far as the grenade pouches go . . . A Vortex laser rangefinder fits, but the dust intrusion was bad, so no. I crammed a baclava into one. I also was able to fit a medium sized headlamp in one of the pouches. Best use by far I’ve found is the pouch holds precisely two cans of Copenhagen. Moving on to the waist pack, I used to believe the waist pack fits precisely one poncho liner until another KZfaq channel fit the entire Ranger Roll in one. Nice job gathering the whole kit in woodland.

Yes, but they are getting more attention now days. What two did you get if you don't mind me asking. Myself I'm still looking for a Bushlord.

@@danielcharbonneau222 The camepero on Olive and Canadiens in Bacote. The Canadiens has amazing handle ergonomics. Out of package, joker knives are probably the best bang for the buck. I’ll be taking the Campero with me everywhere, I would the Canadiens but the boss wanted that one. As they say happy wife…
