It is known as the Farmville Beltline. It runs around the south side of Prince Edward County.

277 runs from Norfolk Virginia to Chicago Illinois. At Chicago, it can interchange with any railroad in the USA so potentially they could go anywhere.

Crazy. We stopped at the little take-out in Pamplin this afternoon (maybe 2-ish?) & watched an EASTbound train fly through there. I thought all the eastbound traffic took the "lower" route that goes through Phenix. (We live close to the Terry Interlocking & it is awesome hearing the trains roar through there. In the winter I can just barely see the headlight through the trees). Thanks for posting.

We see a lot of east bound intermodal and general merchandise trains in Pamplin. It is very unusual to see an east bound coal but not unheard-of.

Abeline is the name given by the railroad where the Virginian intersects the old Norfolk and Western Beltline around Farmville. It would be the far Southern most tip of Prince Edward County.
