Knowing a little bit about this time period. I think there were good people caught up in this mess as there are all the time. If not then MO, MD, KY would have been Confederate states. NC, TN, AR I think were barely passing secession. I think LA might have been a problem too. One thing that has got me interested is, how many southerners who fought in militias, mostly for their homes, but did fight the confederates. In Jones Co, MS, Northern AL, Western NC and Eastern TN, for sure. I would love to see this one. Either I am looking in the wrong places or I haven't found much on this.
