You think Inter play defensive, then it means you don't watch Inter enough. He rarely plays long because Inter play close to one another and allow the wingbacks or midfielders to carry the ball. Inter plays 3 or 5 at the back when defensive. It means he always have players around him. With two wingbacks, the center player in the 3CB stays much more back while the DM also stay close to him defensively. Why Inter have many players at the back is simply because they are all runners. Watch the City game and you will see Onana playing high up the pitch because City were afraid to press him, so Inter made him play higher up the pitch. But Inter are not a defensive team as they are ont of the best attacking teams in Serie A with over 100 goals in all competition last season.

I do understand what, that inter play a 5-3-2 with free license to the wing backs, maybe i came across wrong, what i meant is inter play a low defensive line which doesn't showcase andre onana's sweeper keeping ability to full effect

Their defensive line is lower than most of the top teams. That's what he is saying. It reduces the amount/responsibility of sweeping actions.

@@Inside_UNITED Now I get your point. The Inter midfield is filled with runners and their creativity comes most often from the wings. When the midfielders push high up the pitch, the wing backs replace them in midfield. When Inter are overzealous and commit too much to attack, they tend to concede a lot. Inzaghi likes to attack almost all the time but Inter struggled at the beginning of the season due to the overzealousness. Many teams in Serie A noticed this and play very defensive, so Inter can commit a lot forward. Inter concede a lot of goals from counters, the remedy is let the defensive line be low to avoid too many counters against them.
